Looking at the two packs (common horizontal line) from the driver's viewpoint, the outputs are as stated.

    4.6 coil pack removal

Ignition Pack Removal. Read anything you can find about replacing a coil pack on a 4.6 V8 (banana inlet manifold) and you will be told (with resulting horror!) that the inlet manifolds have to be removed to gain access. Firstly, let me lower your blood pressure, by assuring you this is NOT the...

    P38 - Mild vibration at 50

My P38 started producing mild vibration around 50. Heard and felt through the steering wheel. Initial diagnosis was front near-side wheel bearing. Replaced this but not cured. Guess what?, it was the front off-side! Now a quiet as the proverbial mouse.

Range Rover P38 Swaying Bushes or Shocks??

Not sure what you mean by 'swaying'. The P38 is notorious for following ruts in the road with the wrong tyres.

    new and looking for help

Hi Phil, If you're not doing many miles then a 4.6 Vogue is great value. They are fully loaded and can be found for around £3-4k for X/Y plates. The engines are very low stressed and will work for miles if cared for.

    Driver's Window P38

My X-plate P38 has just developed a problem with the driver's window. I operated the one-touch to close the window. It motored closed in its normal fashion but when it reached the limit it made a loud clanking sound, as if the motor/gear assembly was jumping teeth. It seems like the motor is not...

    Tailgate not opening

Had this problem with mine too! If the fuel flap is also not working it could be fuse 14, found on the rhs of the driver's seat. If this is ok then it's most likey to be a faulty driver's door locking module. The bad news is that it is practically impossible to gain access to the tailgate...

Slight Tapping Noise when started from cold

Its gummed-up hydraulic tappets (lifters). Add a bottle of Wynn's 'Hydraulic Valve Lifter Treatment' This costs around £5 and will clean the lifters. After about 500 miles change the oil, flush, and refill with a quality synthetic ie: Mobil 1.

    tailgate lock

Had same problems with my P38 and cured them by fitting a new driver's door locking module. Costs about £150 and takes about two hours to fit but you'll need lots of patience and sticking plaster

    P38 Tram-lining

If you find your P38 is trying to follow every on-road rut then, provided the steering is in good shape, renew the steering damper. I've just changed mine @ 103k and have eliminated all tendancies to tram-line making driving less tiring and much more enjoyable. Cost is about £25 - £50 dependant...

    central locking problem

Had the same problem with mine until the driver's door lock was renewed. £150 and an hour to fit but you'll need lots of patience.

    Petrol Flap

The circuit for the flap release is via the driver's door lock. If this is faulty then the flap release will not operate - same lock also controls the tailgate mechanismn. I assume the flap mechanismn is free to operate.

    Tailgate problem

99% chance it's the driver's door lock assembly. My 2001 Vogue had similar problems and a new lock cured all of them. It cost about £145 and took a good hour to fit but you will need a lot of patience. Good luck

PLEASE HELP! petrol cap and boot wont open!

Hi, I have a 2001 4.6 Vogue which had a similar problem. Whilst the fuel filler door was never an issue, the tailgate would often refuse to open. The grounding path for this and the fuel filler comes via the driver's door lock assembly and it this that I replaced and cured the problem. A new...
