Spotted a nice 110 in Stroud today

I spotted a dark coloured 110 with a hi lift jack mounted on the spare wheel driving through Stroud earlier, complete with LandyZone sticker on the back door. I haven't been here for a while but it prompted me to just drop by and give a big thumbs up to the owner. It looked very nicely done up...

    Hi capacity pickup dimensions

Hi guys. I was wondering if anyone may be able to help me out? I may have found a top for my 110 Hi-Cap but it's fitted to a 109 Hi-Cap. Does anyone know if the rear tub is the same size on both vehicles?

    Cubby box middle seat

I'm a bit slow on the uptake here but warm cab? Defender? Not something I've ever experienced! How does that happen? I don't think my engine has ever got warm enough to make the heater work properly?! I made the box in the end. Copied the seat base but with a thinner layer of padding and a...

    Cubby box middle seat

Well so did I but it seems by the reply from gods gift to the forum that one must be an irresponsible child killer to even consider wanting one! Even someone as "stupid" as me has no trouble guessing why his name's redhand... The ****er's worn it out!

    Cubby box middle seat

The usual attitude of reply from the forum - no wonder I don't bother visiting often! Some of the members here have been a great help to me in the past but replies like this are just plain grumpy and rude. They happen all too often. I'll tell you what. How about if you can't give a nice civil...

What have you learned from Defender ownership?

Always wear a coat in winter even if you are going on a long journey. The heater never warms up at least until you've got to your destination - sometimes not at all!

    Cubby box middle seat

Hi Guys. I'm looking for a small cubby box that can still be sat on to go in my Hi-Cap. Does such a thing exist? Just a small flat box I could put receipts etc in with a seat pad on the top rather than a full sized box that loses the centre seat. If anyone knows of such an item could you...

Fitting a small crane to the front of a Defender

Ooh, a crane and a tipper. That would be very nice! I wonder what the weight of that crane is? Something tells me it may reduce the load capacity to under a ton? The main thing is that the general opinion seems to be front end = bad idea! I was kind of thinking that myself because of the...

Fitting a small crane to the front of a Defender

I've not really got the space to store a forklift. Besides I'll only need it a couple of times a month and it would also be handy to be able to take it to a site if needed. When you talk about hand winch frames, are they on the rear like a tow truck or on the front? I'm thinking it would be...

Fitting a small crane to the front of a Defender

Hi chaps, Just recently I've needed to move lots of Ton sacks around my yard. I was thinking of making up some sort of crane with an old engine crane and fitting it via quick release mounts to my winch bumper. Do you think the front end is up to supporting that sort of weight? I think they...

    Pto?

Ebay is great of you're not too keen. I've bid on stuff for over a year before I've got what I want. Then I've been the only bidder. I got a brand new Husqvarna pole saw for £100 a while ago, RRP £600 odd! I bid on one a week for months!

    Pto?

No, wasn't me. Sorry you didn't get it though. :( My user name there is the same as here.

    Pto?

I'd want to mount it on the truck because I'd use it on site. I never really thought of putting one on a trailer! I was thinking the same with the chipper. Ideally it would be fixed to the truck so I could drive around with it. Having thought about it more if I was to mount a 400kg chipper on...

    Pto?

90, that's the sort of plan I have. If I could run a splitter too that would work great. My only issue would be how to mount and dismount such a heavy piece of kit to the truck. The rest of you, thanks for your help. I'll Google it :5bbanghead:

    Pto?

I've read that it's possible to fit a PTO to the transfer box on a defender. What sort of kit could it drive? Has anyone ever seen one running a wood chipper? I understand the chassis would need to be modified as unlike the old series there is no hole in the rear crossmember. It would be...

Metallic screach under load, 300Tdi 110

You're right there, the CV joints are the ones that allow you to steer aren't they! I meant the rear UJ on the back of the rear prop shaft, sorry! It was quite nice to watch the guy work. I know for next time that the rear half shafts are a dead simple fix that I could do myself. Not sure...

Metallic screach under load, 300Tdi 110

I took it in to the garage today. They're not main dealers but do a lot of landy work and are very reasonable. Well it's got a few issues! The near side rear wheel bearing is buggered, as is the rear CV joint. Then while we had it up on the ramps with the wheels free I asked about the backlash...

Metallic screach under load, 300Tdi 110

Twigworth is handy! I've got quite a few parts from them over the years, they're really helpful. I don't think it's a belt. It could be but it doesn't sound right. As you say it's a really tough one to help with having not heard the noise! There's a bit of a grinding type noise in there which...

Metallic screach under load, 300Tdi 110

Thanks for your advice. I'll have a look at that in the morning. Should I budget for a new one if it's got too much play or is it a bearing or other removable part? A bit of an amateur comment I know, but the screach sounds slow. I'd expect a turbo to be quite high pitched as it spins really...

Metallic screach under load, 300Tdi 110

Hey guys. I've got a bit of a problem with my Defender. It had quite a hard day today pulling shrubs out at work. Nothing huge, just some small holly trees etc. Then it was a long run home, maybe 30 minutes at 75mph. When I got to the lanes closer to home it started making a really nasty...
