    Defender Bike Rack

OK - bike rack fitted (not by me as rear door also needed some welding) and triangle Simbars boss for Disco 1 fits fine. But as you can see the whole for the padlock to secure the rack is on the top instead of the bottom. So I drilled through. But the rack didn't slide on far enough to...

Yellow tipped switch next to cigar lighter.

On left is lighter (with my charger plugged in) and on right is mystery switch. Nothing (that I know of) happens when I pull it.

    Defender Bike Rack

I have just ordered the Britpart spare wheel hanger and I am hoping to be able to fit the Simbars 4 bike rack that I have on my old disco I (shortly for sale). The simbars rack served me great on the disco and I have seen people fitting to rear wheel carrier and looking at the pics of the rear...

Yellow tipped switch next to cigar lighter.

Disco now more rust than steel and also has stream running through it during rain (which is every day in Ireland) so have upgraded to a Defender - which is what I wanted in the first place but wasn't allowed. OK - quick (and probably stupid) question. Defender is 90 300 TDi (possibly CSW...

    ABS problems

Well - I believe your TD5 is a newer model than my 300TDI - so will have the "ODB" connecter. I understand this was introduced by the EEC to standardise fault readers accross the manufacturers. The upshot is that any garage should be able to read it or you can a reader from EBAY for about £30...

    300 abs light on.

This is an incomplete list of codes. Wabco seem to have moved their manuals to here - http://www.meritorwabco.com/%28S%28i4igz055g2fyuxqywwi2w4iz%29%29/ProductLiterature.aspx?product_1_id=2&product_id=17&product_level=2 And the type C used on my 95 disco is described here -...

    New member from California

Nice videos. You look like your having some great fun. Yesterday I was out in the West of Ireland - Co. Denegal. Some of the roads out there are pretty similar to your trails. Only difference is this morning there was a stream running down our road. Doesn't look like you have that rain problem!

    300 abs light on.

Certainly sounds like a wiring fault to me - no idea if you can do a hard reset. However, if you take out the abs computer you should be able to measure the resistance at that end. My guess is you'll find it infinite (open circuit) as you have a broken wire or loose connection. The pin...

    300 abs light on.

Either your not clearing the faults - but the procedure you describe sounds OK - or they are re-occurring during start up. The motor is certainly tested during the start up sequence. If you clear the fault and turn on the ignition with your foot on the brake then you can feel it. Also, you...

Keep it in the glove box - that's where mine is!

    Boot welding

Boot is not required for MOT. Mine went through with a big whole in it and I take mine to a Goverment MOT center - not a garage. Also went through again after I repaired with fibre glass - about £10.

    300 abs light on.

OK - first code 2-3 is (from wabco manual) - Recirculation pump does not operate (pump does not switch on). Recommended action (again from wabco): Check the recirculation pump wiring, the pump relay and fuse and pump connections. Repair or replace as required. I would check the wiring first...

    Landrovers

I agree - I have always wanted a Landrover but new they had a bad reputation. I bought a discovery last year and although I think it's great (althouogh I did have to get it towed out of mud by a tractor which was a bit embarasing) the build quality and engineering is pretty shoddy. The...

    300 abs light on.

Since found you do not need to replace relay to clear fault. Just wait for code to finish and restart before turning off ignition or re inserting link. Replacing relay meant I had to walk around the car which allowed the sequence to complete!

    disco brakes - help

This is your abs - the vibration is the abs rapidly turning on and off your brakes and the twanging is the hydraulic motor trying to back off your brakes. At a guess I'd say one of your sensors needs banging down. Use this http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/300-abs-light-27043-4.html to find the...

    Another Bio Diesel Question

I run my 95 300 TDI on biodiesel - no problems. Asked my mechanic first and he runs his on it too. The only thing he said was: 1) Change your fuel filter more often e.g. at 6K when you do your oil change. 2) Buy from a reputable dealer - get someone recommend. In the cold it seems to be...

    rotten boot floor

Mine went through the MOT with a big hole along the rear cross member - no problems. MOT's in Northern Ireland are only done at Goverment run stations so there is no dodgyness.
