Advice needed on buying 110 double cab TD5?

Yeah... it's got electronic fueling control and an ECU. This will affect how 'waterproof' your car is - electrics and water being what they are. Check that the ECU wiring isn't soaked in oil, the injector harness is can become flooded with engine oil which can in turn damage the ECU - steer...

    another DIY snorkel question :)

You want a bit of 5mm polythene, cut to shape, to put yer intake piping through in place of the plastic grill thing that's there as stock. Don't need to worry about sealing it then, although if you glue the fecker on with clear silicone you aren't going to need to worry about it leaking ;)

Defenders will be a 2.5, the 2.25 was a Series engine. Try NFU (National Farmers Union) for insurance - they're usually pretty good with landy's. Get quotes for the Tdi as well... you might be pleasantly surprised. You'll get somewhere between 20 and 30 mpg from the 2.5 n/a engine, similar...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Driven it to work... driven it home from work for lunch... about to drive it back to work... will most likely drive it home from work a bit later.

    Fuel starvation?

Don't yer hate it when you start typing a reply to someone and they go and fix the problem while you're still typing it?

    Fuel starvation?

Lift pump would be my favourite for this... could be you've got a split in the diaphragm. Replacements from Paddocks are about £15 I think. It's just possibly the lobe on the cam or the pump that drives the pump off the cam has worn enough that it isn't operating the pump effectively under...

    New mid pipe = power

1.2 won't hurt a Tdi mate... not unless you've wound the fueling right up and drive it hard up very long steep hills repeatedly ;)

    Bio Diesel is Bollocks

A mate has an 06 plate Navarra that he's been running on B100 from a local source all year... nothing wrong with it thus far. Sounds to me like you did the hard work (changed the filters) then gave up or the bio you sourced wasn't really bio.

    New mid pipe = power

    New mid pipe = power

On a petrol engine maybe... but you can't run a Tdi diesel lean... it just doesn't happen. 'Lean' burning in a petrol means knock, detonation or pre-ignition. Diesel engines run on the knock principle anyway - i.e. compression ignition of fuel which is injected at the right point in the...

    Bio Diesel is Bollocks

Right... now we're getting somewhere - thanks Discomania. So if the seals in the pump are changed for nitrile rubber ones instead of natural rubber all should be well apart from at temperatures where bio will begin to gel?

How deep can a TD5 go?

Well you did buy a red wun... wtf did you expect?!

    Potentially very stupid question.

Heh... give 'em a bit of credit... they move a lot of different motors every day and will spot dodgy steering before they've gone 10 feet ;) If yours is a bit vague, check the drop arm ball joint and the ball joints on the drag link and then the UJs on the rod to the steering box. If they're...

    Potentially very stupid question.

No it's not test driven on the road. Chances are good they will move it from car park to testing bay to car park though... so if something is really ****ed and they're doing their job properly it'll fail. I once had a car fail because the ABS light was faulty and they only spotted it while...
