Freelander 1 Facelift sunroof drain tube exit location [solved]

Hello friends. Can anyone tell me where the sunroof drain tubes exit please? A picture or diagram would be appreciated if you have one or a link. I have to overhaul the roof, it's corroded badly but to help stop any further ingress of water to the cabin, I thought I might try to gently blow...

    Battery removal

I just encountered this issue and have used a wing nut, anti-vibration washer and a minimal dab of blue thread lock over and above @Nodge68 approach. Hopefully, should anyone other than me have need to remove or change the battery, there will be less likely to have someone use a "gun" to...

    Freelander 1 Floppy gearstick....

Join the MM facebook group. You will be able to see all of the information you need there. Link is here: - MuddyMods FB page for floppy linkage solution The floppy linkage on my 2003 TD4 was because of the bush (which is part of the gear selector) on top of the gearbox. It is not available...

Freelander 1 Pre2001 vs 2004 steering wheel airbag arrangements [SOLVED]

@Nodge68 - yes there is a slight buzz, the refinement of the damper on the steering wheel is worth having, I agree

    Which assurance company?

Normal @FrogWithLand - j’ai 63 et 0,5 avec Generali. Je pense 450€ après remise est chère. I’m 63 and 50% NCD with Generali. I think 450€ after discount is expensive.

That sounds interesting and competitive, especially if it includes European recovery. I’ll look them up. Thanks.

Freelander 1 Alarm Sounds when locked

Just for information on the cables, mine was held in place by 2 (two) strands of the untrusted bowden cable with a genuine LR regulator; incredible. How it ever lowered the glass and returned it to fully up when opening and closing the tailgate is beyond belief. I had a near miss. I must get...

Freelander 1 Alarm Sounds when locked

DOH! Is there some evil scrooge-like LR person employed on the FL1 design team who died and was abused by the board of directors looking down and getting even on the owners? I have a vision of character like one of "The Tuckers" laughing like a drain at us all. I reconnected my battery...

Freelander 1 Alarm Sounds when locked

I have been thinking about your alarming issue. I had the same symptoms. A few days later though, my (LHD) drivers door (your nearside) glass mechanism failed. I replaced it and the alarm matter just happened to disappear. Is the system able to detect the door glass not closing fully...

    Which assurance company?

Which region of France are you in please. With Generali and 50% NCB, I am paying 450€ for comp including recovery. I bank with CA but have been losing faith with them of recent.

Freelander 1 Steering wiring connector conundrum [solved]

Here's a pic should anyone else want to know what the insert looks like. As @marjon said, you are looking to compress a small tang to allow the insert to exit the receptacle. Wiring modified, steering assembly tomorrow. Vibration report later on @Nodge68. Thanks everyone

Freelander 1 Steering wiring connector conundrum [solved]

Thanks @marjon, I just managed that with a pin for the 1.8i wheel. Just ordered a set of terminal removal tools off Amazon to make the future easier. Working at the HSE wheel now.

Freelander 1 Steering wiring connector conundrum [solved]

Do any of you bright sparks (groan) know how the pins remove from the receptacles in the steering wheel horn connection? Pic attached. The horn pinouts are different between the 2005 HSE TD4 and the 1998 1.8i steering wheels and so I need to modify the 1.8i to TD4 standard. I was hoping not...

Freelander 1 Pre2001 vs 2004 steering wheel airbag arrangements [SOLVED]

Hello @andyfreelandy, one reason may be I use an Apple laptop using Safari browser. I can just drag the image I want into the message and it uploads that way. Using the icon in the toolbar just doesn't work.

Freelander 1 Pre2001 vs 2004 steering wheel airbag arrangements [SOLVED]

Doh! I answered my own question!!! The yellow item in the picture of my question above is an anti-vibration dampener for diesel engined vehicles only (see the attached pic). The steering wheel I bought was for a 1998 1.8i petrol vehicle. It will be interesting to see how much vibration I feel...

Freelander 1 Pre2001 vs 2004 steering wheel airbag arrangements [SOLVED]

For 45€ I bought what appeared to be a new old stock 1998 black leather steering wheel to replace the disgusting 2005 HSE steering wheel. I removed the airbag assembly and see that there is an elastomerically mounted yellow coloured mass which I presume contacts the airbag module in high impact...

Freelander 1 wheel size, snow chains and tyres

Yes @Colthebrummie, an adventure it is going to be. I am now at the point in life where I am looking to avoid the reasons not to do something, if that makes sense. That said, I agree, a range rover is not the right tool. @Stance's comments make good sense about deep snow and clearance too, but...

Freelander 1 wheel size, snow chains and tyres

Stance, kiitos! What do you prefer between Nokian and Conti? I know both would be okay on tarmac roads, but how are they on dirt roads with deeper, soft snow please? My thinking is to have a winch and anchor available too but do accept that it is impossible to cover EVERY eventuality for...
