Thanks @marjon, I just managed that with a pin for the 1.8i wheel. Just ordered a set of terminal removal tools off Amazon to make the future easier. Working at the HSE wheel now.

Do any of you bright sparks (groan) know how the pins remove from the receptacles in the steering wheel horn connection? Pic attached. The horn pinouts are different between the 2005 HSE TD4 and the 1998 1.8i steering wheels and so I need to modify the 1.8i to TD4 standard. I was hoping not...
