well took the switch out and that didn't solve the problem, whipped the rever plunger out and hay presto rever gear can be selected again. took the plunger appart as instucted in manual but mine hever had a circlip on the end as the PDF. after rebuilding it i found that it didn't depress once...

thanks paul im going to try the reverse light switch first as thats the quickest and easyest (also my rever light not working so could be the problem) if thats the problem ill adjust the reverse gearstcik plunger on the left and see if that fixes it.

well it could also be the reverse light switch.
