Got this sorted today was the alternator pulley the clutch was seized what a pig of a job getting that off. So i just replaced the whole unit all going fine now back on the road. Will do the timing belt when i have more time out of intrest does anyone know the correct interval for the belt...

Update had a chance to look at the car this afternoon once i took the drive belt off for the alternator ect the noise stopped took the timeing cover off to inspect the belt and its all ok in there ive ordered a kit to do it anyway. So it looks like its either the drive belt itself alternator...

Thanks ive told my wife not to use it untill i get chance to havd a better look as if it is the timing belt tensioner it could end badly. Yes this one has an annoying drone so i think its rear diff is also a issue. Other than that its a very nice car and my wife loves it

Ive only had the vehicle just over a year and looking in the service book theres no mention of a replacement timing belt its covered 95000 now so i might aswell put one on it while im inspecting that area i see you can get a kit with everything water pump ect

My wife has actually just told me the mpg has dropped slightly but only .3 of a mpg

Hi im new to this forum i have been trying to figure out what the strange noise is coming from my freelander And wondered if anyone else has experienced this. Sounds like the air box is off when blipping the throttle then once its reved up its fine.
