    diesel in the water

 After having a new engine installed in the disco I have found a new problem which so far has baffled all the local mechanics. I have a problem with diesel getting into the water system and filling the expansion tank. I have by passed the fuel cooler thinking it could be the source of...

TD5 2.5 diesel with LOW power.

Have taken the intercooler hose off and it does seem to be worse (less power), so I presume that the turbo is working correctly. I haven't had time to get a new MAP sensor from L/R yet as I am unsure if cleaning the sensor was enough. Is there anyone online from where I can order one? I...

TD5 2.5 diesel with LOW power.

thanks for the advice with regards to gunk. You are quite correct about the smoke. there is none, not even on start up or when pulling hard up a hill or heavy acceleration (not that i can do that). i will try to get the hose off this week end and see how it goes. hopefully by then i will...

TD5 2.5 diesel with LOW power.

With the intercooler to inlet manifold hose removed , what should i feel when driving? Are we talking about GUNK cleaning fluid or some sort of carb type cleaner? I presume something terrible hapens if i don't dry it out correctly? Sorry for all the questions but i don't want to write...

TD5 2.5 diesel with LOW power.

 Where abouts is the 'silly little one'. I know there is one under the rear wheel arch. I am presuming that Landrover mail dealer would have checked all the pressures when they had it. As I am unsure which hose the inlet hose is, could I clarify it. The hose from the air box to the...

TD5 2.5 diesel with LOW power.

I've cleaned the plug terminals and the sensor, with gunk degreaser, let it dry and reinstalled it. It does seem to have made some difference. I'm not sure if it has cured the fault. The Disco only just makes it up local hills (Cornwall) at around 45mph @3.5K revs. I thought it would...

TD5 2.5 diesel with LOW power.

Thanks, I will have a go at that this week and see if it clears the problem.

TD5 2.5 diesel with LOW power.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The saga continues. L/R main dealer changed the MAF meter with no change in power. They swapped the ECU for another one from another car with no effect. They checked all the sensors out and no faults were...

TD5 2.5 diesel with LOW power.

After having the turbo blow on my disco ('99 2.5 Auto) I have now fitted a recon engine. The landy starts fine and drives ok but is very low on power. Where do I start? Any Ideas? I have just ordered a fuel filter and air filter. The Pump was replaced a few months ago. I will change the...

    fuel in oil????????

Great minds think alike. Where do I get a fuel rail from (part number?) or is it just a set of seals. I've ordered some injector seals so I was hoping to do as many seals as I could at the same time to save removng the timing cover again and again.

    fuel in oil????????

I was hoping it would be something less expensive. If it was the rings surely I would get some oil entering the chamber and then smoke out of the exhaust, which I'm not. Any other ideas, I have heard about a fuel rail perhaps?

    fuel in oil????????

I have fuel getting into the engine oil. I presumed it was from the seal around the injectors leaking. Could a faulty fuel regulator cause fuel to enter the engine lubrication system. The fuel reg does seem to be covered in oil but it is hard to determine if it is engine oil or leaking fuel...

    td5 starting problems

I think the fault has cured it's self. The landy does start now. Some very helpful people at Helston Diesel (01326 561977) replaced the fuel pump as it was intermitent. I also swapped the realys around just in case. If it happens again i will aim for the regulator as they have a habit of...

    td5 starting problems

my thoughts are still along the air leak line. I do have a copy of the workshop manual, but in the removal replacement of the pump the line colours are not mentioned. I am still thinking that air is entereing the fuel sytem and thus allowing the fuel to drain back to the tank. If the fuel line...

    td5 starting problems

Sometimes the pump screams and some times it seems to give a low hum. The pump has just been replaced, so I gathered that it should be in working order. Do you know in which order the hoses should be connected to the pump. The pipes have colours on but the pump does not, just incase it has been...

    td5 starting problems

Would this prevent the vehilcle starting if the valve was defective. I have been out in it today and if the nose is pointed down hill it has been starting well, but if the vehicle was pointing up hill then it would struggle to start. Also on the way home the vehicle suddenly started ,making...

    td5 starting problems

I managed to get it started this morning after charging the battery. the pump is working as I can hear the high pitch scream. I have a feeling that air is getting into the system. I have been told that a NRV could prevent the fuel draining back into the tank. Where would be the best place to...

    td5 starting problems

I am still having a problem with my TD5. I recently had the fuel pump replaced (it wouldn't 'buzz' when the ignition was turned on) but I once again have the same problem. When the landy is stood for a while it won't start. I have tried puring the system by leaving the ignition on and waiting...

    auto box problems

my auto gearbox does not seem to be driving correctly. I have changed the oil, which when it came out was jet black. I think the clutch plates are slipping as the car does not accelerate quickly and it struggles up hills. Are clutch platesa simple job I can do myself (fairly Proficient DIYER) or...

    starting problem

\i have taken the landy to the local diesel specialist. I have a feeling it was the fuel pump. I couldn't hear it every time i turned the ignition on, even after depressing the throttle. They are checking to see if there are any a air leaks too. thanks for your help
