Td5 slick shift worth the hassle???

Not sure why it's doing that. If you search youtube for "PM345 Slickshift for Defender Gearboxes R380 and LT77 fitting guide" you will get the vid

Td5 slick shift worth the hassle???

IIRC I got mine here https://www.onlinegearboxparts.com/product/defender-lt77-slickshift/

Td5 slick shift worth the hassle???

As JimS says it is a very easy job - an hour is plenty and no skill required. I recommend this video which I thought was the clearest. You will need some silicon sealant as well as what you get in the box. Once you have fitted it then spend some time getting the springs set up just right - the...

    110 rear refit - looking for ideas/inspiration

I made my own storage drawer like the one Huddy suggested above (thread here https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/diy-storage-drawer-for-110.350057/). I considered at one stage having the drawer half width and hinging a platform the length of the rear with a piano hinge so that I could fold...

Td5 slick shift worth the hassle???

I can't imagine anyone suggesting that adding a slickshift would make it feel like a modern hatchback. If they do, they are being a bit silly. It will feel like a Defender with a shorter more precise throw. I have never previously worried that liking a shorter throw makes me "unable to handle"...

Td5 slick shift worth the hassle???

That and reduce the sloppiness in the standard shift. There is a very boring video about it here which is a decent guide to fitting too...

    Powered gas strut replacement

No worries - when I realised it was kaput I assumed it would be straight forward, but then getting the busted one off was a mission, and I worry there might be some sort of calibration steps required or some sequence of powering up or such like when replacing it. TBH I can't quite imagine how...

    Powered gas strut replacement

It is the gas strut for the automatically opening tailgate... These ones I think - https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/ashika-14464779.html I am not sure exactly what the wires do but presumably there is some internal mechanism that actuates the strut... Whilst I appreciate the wisdom of replacing...

    Powered gas strut replacement

Apologies for this question if it is has been asked and answered before, but google has not been able to help me and the search function is still down. Does anyone have any tips for replacing the powered gas strut on a 2012 RR Sport? Is this it a straightforward job or should I be wary of...

    Search function error

The search function is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If they hadn't nailed it to the forum it'd be pushing up the daisies. Its coding processes are now history. It's off the twig. It's kicked the bucket...

Td5 slick shift worth the hassle???

For £70 odd this is one of the best mods I have done to my td5. Gearchange was like a rigged fairground game before - now it is spot on. As Jim says you need to spend a bit of time getting the springs just right, but even so this is a really simple mod that even a muppet (me) can do in <30mins...

Wipac Halo Led Headlights - worth the price?

It is probably just me, but those halos give a Defender a slightly "surprised" look!

    Quick soundproofing question!

I ended up making about 3 orders of SilentCoat. I think I went through 5 or 6 bulk boxes doing the roof, floors, seatbox, doors - everywhere I could get at. These guys deliver pretty quickly (https://www.deadening.co.uk/collections/silent-coat), but even so I would order more than you think you...

    Ready to Fit Seats

NB looking at those links again the bulk packs shown are for 3.75 sq m for the 2mm and 2.15 sq m for the 4mm. So not only is the 4mm more expensive, but it doesn't go as far. If you are on a tight budget the 2mm will stretch a lot further per buck. The difference between nothing and 2mm is...

    Ready to Fit Seats

Ideally you need a bitumen high mass soundproofing layer first, and then sound deadening foam like that on the top. There may be cheaper alternatives than SilentCoat which is what I used, but I can't speak for how good they are. SC is worth every penny in my book. You can get 2mm...

Would buying a 1996 90 TDI and attempting to modernise be a money pit?

I drive mine every day too. Without soundproofing, it would have been near unbearable. Once properly soundproofed, I love it. I never hesitate to choose it over the wife's RR Sport on the drive. And it is not for the "look" since not a single f%^& is given about what anyone else thinks of it...

Would buying a 1996 90 TDI and attempting to modernise be a money pit?

Seems to me there are two different questions here. One is "can you get a beaten up bag of rust for £6k and then make it better with nice seats etc?". Nope. Nope. Nope. Two is "if you get a decent Defender which is in good mechanical nick with a solid unrusted chassis (probably north of £10k)...

    Defender 110 Seat upgrade.

Very smart indeed. I went for the diamond pattern instead of the full leather for various reasons, price being one! Did you replace the middle row seats too, and if so where are they from - are they Exmoor too? Interesting that you should raise the seat risers - my seats are jammed at the back...
