    Can anyone recommend a company who could rebuild/repair a 1992 defender 90?

Thanks Steve, I'm Berkshire, near Wokingham, so not too far. I'll look them up.

    Can anyone recommend a company who could rebuild/repair a 1992 defender 90?

Evening, I just wanted to try and get some rough pricing and feasibility for a potential defender 90 rebuild. It's been sat for a while now due to ill health and needs some fairly extensive work doing. Needed a new LT77 gearbox when it was last used and now most likely an engine rebuild. I was...

That would be ideal, though probably miles away! I'm in Berkshire. Best, Jim

Should all new copper washers be annealed before use?

Is it common practice to anneal all copper washers before use, no matter where they're used? Is it only for the heavier guage? Thanks

200tdi fuel filter housing bleed screw washer - AEU2149L

Hi All, I'm replacing the washer and bleed screw on the fuel filter housing. I got a genuine land rover washer to replace from Brit car. They've sent the correct part, but it's just a gasket type material, not copper ring washer like original - pictured right. The original has an outer rim...

200TDI swan neck drop arm removal?

Evening All, Trying to remove the steering from my defender to replace with Gwyn Lewis. From what I gather I need a disco drop arm to replace the swan neck for my 200tdi defender? I've heard rumblings of cutting into the knuckle at the top of the neck on the steering box end. I'm a welder so...

    200TDI Fuel Filter Housing Torque

Hi All, Stupid question, as it's probably just a matter or tightening up until she's tight. But are there specific torque settings for the 3 bolts shown here when tightening? I had some leakage prior to cleaning the head and bolts, new washers, so hopefully all will resolve. Otherwise I will...

    Best Glow Plugs for 200TDI

Hi All, recently replaced injectors after a refurb, going to do the glowplugs next as I'm in there, then everything is done at the same time. I was going to go with Turner Engineering, they stock Behru OEM @ about £52 all in with the vat or I can get some genuine Bosch ones for £37 all in. I...

    200TDI Fuel Injector Removal - It's being a pig!

I did try with the seat cutter, but I couldn't really judge how much is was taking out and the tool doesn;t seem to be the right size. I thought it needs to be 20mm x 17mm, but I've only got 21mm x 17mm. It did clean it up a little, but seems to be an easier job with the head off, which I don't...

    200TDI Fuel Injector Removal - It's being a pig!

Good Idea, I got some german made cermic based stuff which is apparently great for diesel injectors, mainly MB. Will smear some of that on there. Pretty sure they've never been removed in 28 years, I will be checking injectors from now on every 6 months to a year. Thanks again for all the help...

    200TDI Fuel Injector Removal - It's being a pig!

Thanks. will anneal and use supplier washers. Also, No.4 left a pretty corroded mess, cleaned up we'll though. I'm hoping no crap worked its way inside. I should think the washer would have prevented that. All other holes were ok, a touch or carbon build up. From experience, would anyone say...

    200TDI Fuel Injector Removal - It's being a pig!

Thanks all. Finally managed to budge the stubborn sod. Got my new injectors back today. Just a quick question. I have some thin gauge coppers washers spare new and old. The ones they came with are very heavy gauge. I'll speak to the supplier too, just wondered if anyone has used any other...

    200TDI Fuel Injector Removal - It's being a pig!

Yeh, I meant more choosing the right one. I have a sealey kit, so I guess would be better than a cheaper brand as I now some of them work out too tight for the hole. No.1 had some build up around the inside, so think I will give them a gentle clean before finally getting the refurbed units in...

    200TDI Fuel Injector Removal - It's being a pig!

Hello all, me again. I think it will be a matter of just driving around until No.4 injector pops up enough for me to heave the bugger out. I've stopped the leak in No.1 and got the engine up to temp with No.4 clamp loose, no movement. I guess it will be the case of drive it until she pops...

    200TDI Fuel Injector Removal - It's being a pig!

Never annealed a new or old washer before, I have a butane torch, how long would one heat the new washer and how long for cooling in the bucket, I guess they're pretty thin gauge. I guess until they're cherry red and a few minutes cooling off or back to normal colour. Thanks

    200TDI Fuel Injector Removal - It's being a pig!

Hi Rob, thanks for the message. True. I've heard a few people saying they worked fine and others saying they got stuck or were more hassle. Two injectors holes No.2 and No.3 look fine, a bit more cleaning and I should be there. The No.1 that was leaking when trying to budge No.4 has some carbon...
