    200tdi Power Loss

Ok thank you. Looked at several videos and they show the pin coming out easy enough but mine is 'captive' so wondered if there was something else going on. Cheers.

    200tdi Power Loss

Pos - helpful posts of yours which I came across whilst trying to troubleshoot some Fuel Injection Pump problems I've had. Thing I'd like you to clarify if you're able to - your comment about 'rotating the diaphragm 360 degrees' to push the fuel pin back in: Is this the standard routine...

Breather pipe to air intake or a bottle?

Thanks turboman. I guessed they'd not be LR part nos, but wondered whether there was some ID from the supplier. They carry so much stuff its often easier to get a steer form someone whos been down the road already! I'll have a poke about and see what I can unearth. Thanks very much for taking...

Breather pipe to air intake or a bottle?

Hi Stag - would you mind telling me what part nos (if any) these silicone hoses are on your motor from the air filter top into the turbo? Mines are in need of replacement and that looks like a good setup and easy to maintain. Is that a 60mm to 51mm silicone reducer - squinting to see the...

    Defender VS Rolex watch

The Britpart kit is really good value - it contains a white hankie with knots in each corner, sandals and a pair of white socks, a stick-on mustache, a bulldog, a signed photo of Winston Churchill, a tube of pile cream and a hedgehog to put on the gearknob. I've no idea what the mustache is for...

    Defender as a daily...

Regarding running costs - dont just consider the fuel with a LR. It might be less economical than other vehicles, but factor in savings by self-servicing, probably cheaper insurance, definitely cheaper spares, and lower depreciation and it can start to compare favourably with other foreign/euro...

    alternative heating

If your standard LR heater is set up right it should roast your feet. And adding a small curtain behind your head can increase the in-front heat to toasty levels. A new matrix and a bit of fiddling is a lot less expensive than anything else.

    Storage systems - ideas, etc.

Avoid mdf like the plague. It's too heavy, its brittle, its a pig to work (compared to ply), and wet for any length of time it turns to mush. Best using 1/4 and 3/8 inch ply. You can make some real weight savings by being careful with material thickness and using clever ways of adding...

    New 110

Just a heads up on the foam - dont use open cell foam its no use. You need closed-cell foam - try a 'chemical converters' in the yellow pages - Kay Metzeler is the company I used they have branches throughout the UK. Might be a minimum order quantity so maybe find a friend who needs some...

    New 110

Stick it to the ceiling and sides - take the headlining out and sell it and stick it up above the front seats and get extra headroom. On the floor just lay it under the floor mats, and up under the pedals and in the passenger footwell just unscrew any trim thats there and put in behind and refix...

    New 110

I soundproofed and insulated mine with closed cell foam stuck on - two layers - and carpet on top. Nice and quiet, no condensation either. Did the floor as well and inside the bulkhead - it all helps reduce the noise) dont stick the floor/bulkhead stuff on its a pain - you'll have a wet...

    New 110

All fluids. Basically change everything wet. And any associated filters. Wipe down all grubby bits underneath to be able to watch for gravity feeds (posh term for drips). Lube all cables. Lubricate door hinges and locks, and check handbrake adjustment. Given the impending seasonal change I'd...

    protection for 110 in surrey

No the small ones beside the windscreen wipers. My bulkhead was renewed a few years ago and is in fine condition with no rust, filled with Waxoyl by me a couple of times, but never (until recently) through the small blanked holes in the front! Never again!

    protection for 110 in surrey

Be careful! I tried this two weeks ago - removing rubber bungs and fired a jet of warm wax in through those holes - right into the cubby space to the left of the heater controls, all over the side and inside of the Mud console and creating both an almighty mess, but an unbelievably stinky...

    Snorkel for 1989 2.5TD

The Safari snorkel 200tdi model is the same as you'll require for the 19j 2.5TD - I know because I have a 2.5 TD underbonnet air filter assembly from my old engine but now have fitted a 200 tdi, and I just bought the Safari snorkel yesterday to fit it. ( and my van is a 1989 m.y.)
