    Gearbox question

Hey everyone, Hope you're all very well. Im currently stripping and rebuilding the original gearbox/transferbox for my series 3. It had very noisy bearings when I bought the Landy and I scored a VERY cheap used one off eBay so I fitted that while I play with the original one over winter. All...

    Lectricks

Wow! That’s why I love this forum! So much help, rapid style. I’ll check the alternator voltage when I get in tonight and report back. :)

    Lectricks

Eh up knowledgable folks. I’ve a bit of an odd one. My 1981 series 3 keeps going through voltage stabilisers on the back of the speedo. It’s done one every month or two in the six months I’ve had it. I swapped to the solid state ones two back, they do last a bit longer but it’s still doing it...

    Oil consumption

It’s on a little greenlane above Porthtowan. The easy way home after checking the surf.

    Oil consumption

Great, thanks for the advice everyone.

    Oil consumption

Yea in a petrol landy that would get costly hahaha

    Oil consumption

Haven’t yet, as only had it for 800 miles but was gonna stick to every 2-3k or every six months. Same with gear, axles and overdrive.

    Oil consumption

Hey all, Just a query from a fairly new S3 owner. What sort of oil consumption would you all expect from your motor? Ive a 1981 petrol with 90k on it. It was pretty well laid up prior to my buying it (2005-Oct 2018 it only covered 300 miles) During this period it was really well maintained and...

The ongoing story of Wendy from Solihull

Well, Wendy went to the beach today. Super stormy day, took in some lovely easy lanes near the house and finally got a couple of pictures... Just before she ran out of electricity, died and had to have some help. What I love most about owning a Landy is that you get to meet new people. Today I...

    Steve's unexpected Series 3 rebuild.

Hi there Steve, Just wanted to drop a comment to say how much of an inspiration your thread is. Your work is incredible and even though Im only half way through reading the thread you can see the progression in your skill and the massive satisfaction you clearly get from a job well done. I've...

The ongoing story of Wendy from Solihull

Well, today has been a nice day playing with Wendy. Started off replacing a dodgy section of exhaust, pulled the dash out and replaced the blown instrument bulbs with LED jobs (nice warm white ones not the boy racer spec blue), then I replaced the (completely absent) heater hoses in the dash so...

Thanks guys, that's what I was after. Rebuild mine it is!

The ongoing story of Wendy from Solihull

So yesterday I took delivery of my drivable project. Named Wendy by my partner. As said in my introductory post she's a 1981 2.25 petrol. Ive taken her for a couple of short adventures already. To the beach with aforementioned partner yesterday, and poped out for a surf with some mates this...

Series 3 Has anyone fitted a diesel gearbox to a petrol sIII?

What it says above really, I collected my new rolling project yesterday, a 1981, 2.25 petrol, SIII who has affectionately named (by my partner) Wendy. The first issue I want to address is... She has a noisy gearbox in reverse, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. 4th is fine and all gears, both boxes and...

    Eh up all!

Thanks John, Yea some bigger tyres are one of the first things I want to do. Not to big tho. Wanna keep her classic and original looking.

    Eh up all!

You can always ask If I say more than 4K less than 5k that should cover it and I feel like it’s a bargain at that. I know I’m in for more as it goes on. She needs new door tops and I’d like some taller tyres to complement her overdrive. Never been a fan of fwh’s, unless you use them all the...

    Eh up all!

Hey, Only the two from the advert I replied to selling her. I’ll upload them below. Seems super well looked after, couple of repairs to chassis and it’s had the footwells done but it’s been re built over the past 15 years by a local place down here and for the money I had it was a real bargain...
