so I’m thinking of re-spraying my defender but debating whether to fully strip it into parts and get them sprayed individually and replace all the seals between each panel or just mask the windows wheels etc and give it a good rub down making sure all my panels are in line then re-spray it ...

No it’s a 300tdi and it’s literally just started doing since I had an earthing problem on my battery and I resolved that

So I’ve just drove into to town parked up turned my ignition off and the engine is still running ?? Could someone please explain to me how to resolve this problem ?

From the battery it goes to my body then from the chassis to the trans! Not sure what the earth from the main terminal to the plate on top of the battery is for though because that’s where it seems to be earthing through

Ok that’s a good point, I’ll remove them all tomorrow give them a clean and try again

Replace it with a bigger gauge cable ?? Or locate it somewhere else? I don’t understand why that cable is there ?? And I checked the earth to body and that’s good, the earth chassis to trans looks all good just a bit rusty on the chassis end!

When I tried to start it this wire started to near enough glow at either end

I’ve checked all the earths that I can see and they all seem fine ??

No they’re not, I’m not sure what they’re for to be fair I’ve onky owned the 90 for a week

I believe that’s tape over that from what I’ve seen, ive only had the defender a week, but when I tried turning it over again the smoke looked as if it was coming from across the bar that holds the battery down
