    URGENT : help finding a weird T-piece!

Actually the bit has already been botched as an emergency fix, while I was digging for a replacement, but the fix failed after 2 weeks. Now the only solution is to either find one or bite the bullet and break the piggy bank for a stupid little part...

    URGENT : help finding a weird T-piece!

Hi guys, A bit desperate here. on my freelander 1 td4 2003 AUTO, there is a t-piece connected as I understand, to the intercooler. It is broken and i am loosing coolant faster than i can refill (1l / hour). It's just dripping on the ground as soon as the engind warms up... LR will not supply...

    Freelander 1 TD4 auto 2003, 18MPG

Ok, little update... I have had the FL duly serviced by a friend of mine who's got the know-how, kept the 4WD and installed the EGR Bypass. 3000 miles later (yes, I drive a lot! The FL is my work tool) I can give a solid calculation : 32.9MPG, 50% city, 25%suburb and 25%dual carriage way...

[Freelander 1] Sourcing bolts kit rear window dog guard

Hi guys, bit of a long shot but who knows? I have bought a second-hand rear window dog guard. I have the guard itself and the supports, but of course I don't have any of the bolts and plastic pegs/dowels (not sure of the english word, sorry) needed to actually fix the supports inside the rear...

    Freelander 1 TD4 auto 2003, 18MPG

Ok, so after reading all your input and researching on each and every argument, I decided to side with the majority and keep it 4x4. A friend of mine who's an mechanic hobbyist will service the car the WE (I have ordered and received already the full service set, with synth oil and filters I did...

    Freelander 1 TD4 auto 2003, 18MPG

In a nutshell that I need to inform them once the modif is done, and I'll pay an extra £18/month (£82 instead of £64). My reasoning : the extra premium is always gonna be much less than a new gearbox if the VCU seizes, so...

    Freelander 1 TD4 auto 2003, 18MPG

I live in Bournemouth, UK south coast. This winter has been the worse in a generation snow-wise. That was 2 days. My other cars (ford fusion 1.4tdci and volvo s40 2.0l petrol), both FWD of course, did just fine. And the closest to off-road I will ever do is bridal-path-like roads when my...

    Freelander 1 TD4 auto 2003, 18MPG

Yes, sorry my english is not up to scratch...yet. Actually it's the LR mechanic who proposed it straight away. His argument was simple and to me, made perfect sense : if the car does not actually off-road, the car in effect is a FWD. At 90000miles, the risk of VCU failure outweights the benefits...

As it stands, 28mpg, I'd sign for it without reading the small prints ;-)

I'd be thrilled and more than ok with 450miles. I saw several mention about synergy settings, trying to figure out what this is about - if anyone has a link at hand to educate me, I'll happily study it.

    Freelander 1 TD4 auto 2003, 18MPG

So, I waited for the fuel light to come up and filled the tank as much as possible - that was 53.9L. ODO set at 0 then, we'll see... Hopefully I should hit the 400miles mark but I actually doubt it. Anyways, as I said, it's being serviced / 2X4'd next week, so I'll have a good idea if it makes...

Very useful thread it looks like. Thanks for the link, I actually searched for something like that but did not search well enough, clearly. No. It was actually noted it needs all of this done and it's booked in at a LR specialist for next Wednesday - I did not consider that a needed service...

Hi guys (and girls? possibly? I doubt it but who knows...) A bit of context : about a week ago, I bought a LR 2003 "Kalahari" : diesel 2.0 TD4, auto, 90000 miles. A few known minor issues (back widows and roof faulty... shocker!) drives fine, turbo kicks in, auto gear is smooth, nothing out of...
