Freelander 1 Land Rover Freelander 2.0Td4 2004MY Sport Premium Silver 87k

Selling my low mileage Freelander td4 Sport Premium (3 dr) in Silver as a cheap and very easy project (runs and drives) it's a beautiful looking version being the sport premium in metallic silver and took me a while to find a good example. Original listing=...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Noticed that the Boiiing/pranging type sound when making sharp turns is coming from what I think is the prop. Is it recommended to take to a LR garage to ensure I get a OEM part? I've yet to change the 2 rear box oils which I should probably be tarred & feathered for. No idea on the levels...

    Manual or Auto

I dont really go off road but I have a manual & do wish I got an auto I see some threads on mpg & such but not sure it's enough to make a difference or put me off. Man do I hate 1st & 2nd gear on a manual. Makes it quite the chore for me as I mostly drive short distances.

    Halogen to HID headlamp units

The ballast is usually the culprit are you sure it's the vehicle and not the lamp itself? Ie have you tried switching left to right etc

Ah ok thanks for the very important heads up. I shall swap front left & right at most if acceptable. A pointless excursion but just on the off chance there's a buckle there.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Front discs & pads replaced. A first for me. Rear hubs & shoes next on the list, along with front drop/anti roll bar links etc. It's pulling to the left quite badly to the point I've picked up a habit of allowing it to steer itself round left hand corners. I'll switch the wheels with the...

Freelander 1 Newbie fed up with garages ripping me off

Ah this gives me hope it's a job I need to get done quite soon. The hubs have shed a layer of rusted metal so I shudder to think how bad the shoes are. I park on a fairly steep hill with my wheel on almost full lock against the kerb but by morning it's evident it's rolled back a tad by the...

Freelander 1 Newbie fed up with garages ripping me off

Omg funny you should say that. I got new rear brake hubs/shoes etc thinking it would be doable. After watching that bodgit leggit video of him replacing shoes I never even want to attempt it. Is jt really that much of am ordeal? I've still got ptsd from the video. Not to slate the man or his...

    Can’t get into gear

Do these have a gear selector/roll pin set up? Sounds very much like my Saab. First it was hard to get in gear, then I lost reverse, then 1st, then all gears. The split/roll pin snapped and couldn't select gears. Does it go into gear any easier with engine off?

I'm dying to know the reference but I couldn't even manage those things. Can't grow a beard & no socks is a deal breaker for me:D

Freelander 1 Newbie fed up with garages ripping me off

Impact wrench worked a treat on the stuck brake calipers bolts. Did them back up till I have some energy. Attempted to undo wheel nuts with extended bar. Pulled back, or ruptured kidney if I was being dramatic Hurts to cough, sneeze & sit & hayfever sneezes are agony. Why didn't I use impact...

Ok great I'm not spoilt for choice on eBay as far as pre-removed struts are concerned but they're cheapest there & risks aside as long as they say tested im sure they'll do. Cheers again for the help.

    Freelander 1 235 55 18 at3 on a Sport model.

Quick question on replacing my sport struts if I may. Do I need the standard struts off a facelift model or would for example a set off an 01 or 03 td4 fit on my 04 one. I know I need them off a td4 as they must be quite a bit heavier. Just unsure on the year range I can look for. Thanks...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Ah that's my problem then I didn't really force it very much. Not sure if it makes a difference but it is the 3dr. According to the original receipt the guard was added as an option from new along with driving lamps, metallic paint etc so i struggle to believe the seats have been banging about...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Do your back seats click into place with the guard? Or am I just not being firm enough :/ I had to brake hard ish the other day & the seats flung down with mine installed. It's been their since new so the previous owner must've experienced it. Not a massive issue but gave the dog a scare

Oh ok good good sockets are In abundance albeit cheap Neilson/Ronson tat. Once I've finished spending on parts etc I shall invest in some better stuff. The cheap wrenches have lasted for a single use on both occasions. Sockets added to watch list & thanks for the input

    Freelander 1 235 55 18 at3 on a Sport model.

Ok many thanks I have been browsing the used one's already removed from cars on eBay. Hopefully i can find them for 50 quid ish a corner. There are local scrap yards close to me but unless they've removed them beforehand & have them on the shelf like the good old days then I think eBay is my...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Hmm forgive my lack of knowledge I've only just started getting hands on with a vehicle & owning tools etc. By Hex sockets do you mean just standard 6 point sockets? & are multipoint sockets aka 12 point? I have normal, torx, & I heard 12 point sockets tend to slip on nuts that are naturally...

Very true I hadn't really taken keeping all wheels on the ground/traction into account. If nothing else in my case I should think it's less strain on the chassis etc with softer coils. I do enjoy the firmer ride on the road but would prefer not to put aftermarket shocks etc. I thought about a...
