Freelander 1.8 thermostat housing and coolant rail

I've got the o rings as they came with the new thermostat housing. It's almost like the exit on the thermostat housing is 10mm too short. I'm going to push the thermostat housing all the way into the pipe then try and fit the securing bolts.

Freelander 1.8 thermostat housing and coolant rail

I'e had another look at the old rail and it's defanity had silicone or sealant put on it at some point in the cars life. Look front the front of the car, the rail has moves towards the passenger side, so somethings not lining up. The rail has 2 lugs for the bolts. I'l try both lugs separately to...

Freelander 1.8 thermostat housing and coolant rail

Sorry I should have said both the thermostat housing and coolant rail are new. It feels like the thermostat housing wants to be further inside the coolant rail but then the bolts won't line up.

Freelander 1.8 thermostat housing and coolant rail

Hi everyone I've changed the thermostat housing and coolant rail today as well as the inlet manifold gasket. I've got water gushing out of the joint between the thermostat housing and coolant rail. I've the thermostat home into the rail then found the bolts don't line up so pulled it about it...

Freelander 1 1.8 coolant rail and thermostat housing

Hi everyone I'm back. I've changed the coolant rail and thermostat housing the car today. I push home the thermostat into the metal tube but then had to withdraw it to line up the bolt holes. I can feel the water gushing from the joint between the thermostat housing and the rail. If I remove the...

    Freelander 1 Engine bracket

It's off! The bracket on the right has 5 bolt holes. The bracket on the left (the correct one) has 4 bolts holes. This explains why I couldn't get it off! I've broken the lower cam belt cover... but it's off!

    Freelander 1 Engine bracket

I've got the four bolts out. I think because the bracket has a lip that sits behind the cam belt cover, it's the lower cam belt cover that's jamming it in place. I've tried pulling the can belt cover back to ease the bracket out but no luck There's been a lot more swearing here this morning!

    Freelander 1 Engine bracket

The bottom bolt comes out. The top three I can loosen but not remove as they are too long and hit the inside of the wing. Even with the thread partially slackened off you'd think the bracket would move a bit but no. Nothing. Big hammer nothing! It looks like a cast bracket not aluminium do you...

    Freelander 1 Engine bracket

I've tried hitting it with a hammer and tried separating it from the engine with a bolster. I can't get it to budge

    Freelander 1 Engine bracket

Hi I bought my k series freelander 6 months ago. It's fitted with the wrong engine bracket. The part that bolts on to the side of the engine that the engine mount is bolted too. The bracket is from a k series engine but not freelander. So the engine isn't level. I've had two goes at get the...
