Does anyone use a series for business?

My issue is that I live close to the M6 where there is a VOSA checkpoint. The traffic police lie in wait for vehicles further down the motorway and then pull them over and instruct them to continue and stop at the VOSA checkpoint. It's OK the first time, I can get away with the "I just bought it...

    Series 2A? Really?

It appears to have a Salisbury rear axle so I would say definitely a S3. The only parts I can see that are S11a are the clutch and brake reservoir and the sills.

Have you ever been pulled and had to argue your case?

Does anyone use a series for business?

You may very possibly be right as an Estate is a business and having an operators licence just to haul bails of hay would be a pain!

I'm not planning on being up all night in chat rooms then hitting the road!

That document is gold! This would seem to suggest that Land Rovers have an Exemption from needing and OL even with a trailer and as the Land Rover concerned is over 25 Years old a Tacho is not required either! Result.

Does anyone use a series for business?

This is very useful. One thought I had is whether it would be possible to get the 90 derated to 1799Kgs GVM and thereby stay under the 3.5 tonne GVM limit and not need an OL?

I would probably be doing 100plus miles each week or fortnight. I would be carrying small cars mainly around 1 tonne.

Does anyone use a series for business?

I am thinking about doing a bit of buying and selling of vehicles as a hobby that makes a few quid. I have a 1988 90 Soft top and a car trailer that weighs 400kgs and has a max weight of 1700kgs. The problem I seem to have come across is that the Gross Vehicle Mass of the 90 is 2400Kgs so with...

Military 110 converted to 300tdi , glow plug wiring

When the previous owner put the 300Tdi in my 90, they never connected the glow plugs up. I was initially a little alarmed, but to be honest even at -5 the engine starts on the first revolution without any glow plugs, gives a small puff of smoke and then runs happily.

series 3 as an every day car ?

I once took a truck cab into the multi story at Manchester Airport, it clunked the swinging thingy above slightly but was ok once inside height wise. When I got in, boy did I regret it, it did not have enough steering lock to go round the ramps between levels and even the 90degree turns had to...

2.25 petrol - changes for unleaded

The lead acted as a lubricant, no lubricant = more wear or so the thinking goes.

series 3 as an every day car ?

If you get one and if it's a LWB don't what ever you do take it in a multi story car park! The steering lock is not good enough!

2.25 petrol - changes for unleaded

I believe that the official Mod was to take the head off and remove the valves, then machine sockets for hardened steel valve seats to be pressed into. Turner Engineering and others can help you with this. To give an alternative view, we used to run and work several 2.25 petrol's in the days...

Series 3 driving on front wheels only

There was a program on BBC recently where 8 celebs were given classic cars and entered into a historic rally in Asia. By the end of the first day the two rappers who had a Hilman Imp had destroyed the engine through total ignorance and only the shear bullet proofness of the Morris Minor had...

    Series 3 Seat manufactures

Is the answer not simple, borrow the seats out of the 110! In my opinion the standard 90/110 seats are comfortable enough (I have done a 7 hour drive with no real discomfort) they look enough like the series seats to not look out of place. Then source a pair of 90/110 seats in time for the 110...

    oil pressure light

I think you would be pretty unlucky to have a worn out pump on a petrol. The pumps used to wear on Diesels once the motor had done over 100k miles at which point I would steal the pump out of a completely worn out 2.25 Petrol and the diesel would be good for another 100k. Always amazed me that...
