Diesel tank filling Freelander 1 TD4 (fixed)

It is not the valve/shutoff that stops the tank emptying if you end up upside down. That is still functioning.

Diesel tank filling Freelander 1 TD4 (fixed)

Refueling started to take longer than charging an EV. After battling with several rusty screws removed the filler tube. Bits of a plastic valve thing fell out. I could not see any other issues so put it back together without said valve thing and can now fill the tank properly. No idea what...

Freelander 1 TD4 Cutting out under load

Thanks for the replies and the list of possibilities . It is going for a more in-depth scan than I can do on Monday. Will keep looking and will update the forum as I go along. I have an icarsoft but it is not showing any faults. Will keep the forum posted.

Freelander 1 TD4 Cutting out under load

Leak back test first. No. 3 about 10% more than the other 3. Then removed and tested on a machine by Hitec Diesels and declared ok. No further info really.

Freelander 1 TD4 Cutting out under load

My 2006 TD4 has a problem and I have run out of ideas. It starts and ticks over as normal and will rev as it should on the path. When accelerating or driving uphill it cuts out then back it. It does not make any difference if I lift of the throttle or keep it depressed. It will accelerate up...

    Freelander 1 no power

No. The MAF is under the air filter lid. You have to remove the 5 allen bolts on it and the intake hoses. Once you can see the air filter you will see the MAF on the left looking towards the rear of the car

    Freelander 1 no power

Your problem really does sound like a dodgy MAF. Running with it disconnected is okay for a while. The other similar issue I have had was a broken wire going to the turbo boost solenoid. To find that: underneath on at the back of the engine on the drivers side. Not too difficult to get...

    Freelander 1 no power

On a TD4 the MAF sensor is under the air filter box lid. Remove it then you will see the sensor towards the back on the drivers side. Carefully disconnect the wiring plug. If there is no improvement it is not the MAF. If there is, it could be your problem

Spent 5 weeks in Iceland with a 109 in the 1990's, this was the inspiration.

    MAF problem sorted (sort of)

There is quite a difference in the way it runs with the MAF disconnected. I agree it should not work like this but it does.

    MAF problem sorted (sort of)

I have had a problem with my 2006 TD4 for about 8 months. Driving down the motorway it just started loosing power then would not accelerate. It ran okay with the MAF disconnected. I have a Synergy 2 fitted and a Pierburg MAF. Changed the MAF, no difference. Contacted Ron who checked the...

    Td4 Lack of power at 70mph - fixed !

Worth checking the wires going to the turbo boost solenoid. They are quite fragile and break but soldering them back together is a cheap fix.

    Freelander TD4 Lack Of Power

Reply to an old post but my engine management light came on just as I was going for a MOT :( Fault code P1E30 Turns out it was a broken wire going to the boost control solenoid. Soldered it back together, all fixed:). Worth checking if you have this fault the other wire was about to break as...

    Suggestions for Africa trip mods/spares/tools

Dont forget sand ladders (PSP is best and cheap)and shovels. Lots of jerry cans (Craddocks 4 for £20). A compass is pretty useful as well. Dont mess up the documentation or it will cost you a few bribes. Good luck

The best pieces of off road kit i used in N Africa were 2 lengths of PSP from Jacksons in Doncaster and a shovel.
