I have a 54 plate TD5 so MOT wise while still being honest means CAT stays, does anyone know if the exhaust note is any better if I just remove centre silencer?

Sort of related, looking into EGR blank and have researched for a while seems to be a grey area. Is it illegal on a 54 plate 90... or will it definitely fail it’s MOT?
