The nipples on my 2004 TD5 Defender is badly rusted and needs replacing. On e-bay they sell stainless ones, but none look like the Landy ones. Does anybody know whether you can get SS ones of the correct size and if so, where.

55 Kg ? Most good roof racks are made of aluminium. I had a Brownchurch rack and had to replace in in Walvisbay in Namibia as it was starting to buckle and bend on the corrugations of long distance gravel roads. Bought a Frontrunner one and have now had it for 15 years and still going strong.

I have done a variant of that and put the blanking plate between the EGR pipe and the manifold. Then also blanking plate at other end of egr cooler.

Called Dingocroft. Also only sells whole handle. But at £8 not an issue. Ordered it. Thanks for all the help and advice.

Does anybody know where I can buy the blanking plug? Both Paddocks and Dealers only sell the whole handle. Might have to try breakers. Does anybody know of a breaker that has many landrovers? Could get them to post it if not available locally in Oxford.

Thanks for that. It has central locking. Just to confuse the issue, I have looked at 2 Defenders in the village and neither of them have a lock barrel in the front passenger door handle- just a blanking plug. Landrover dealer was no help.

How easy are they to install ?

I have contacted Paddock as they advise me that I will have to get lock barrel from Main Landrover dealers. Any cheaper way of doing this ? Also would not really like to have to change the other doors and the ignition lock. Mult. keys also seem a pain.

This is the funny thing, I have a Disc lock and a clutch claw. Even if they had got in- it would have taken them quite a while to get all that off. I suppose I will have to get the lock from a dealer ? Or is there a cheaper way ? Any advice appreciated.
