Disco 2 At the moment following a new chassis on Feb 1st I now have quiescent problem.

1/ Is 10mins long enough for everything to settle down? Have you tried after 30mins or even 1 hour. I dont know for certain but 50mA would seem reasonable to me. I may check my D2 tomorrow if I get a moment but have you disconnected the alternator before testing in case its that? 2/ No internal...

Disco 2 Water from sun visors

Sorry guys this isn't closed. After a few days of the sun visors being dry dispite more rain i have now noticed water above the drivers sun visor again and there was a little condensation on the bottom drivers side corner of the windscreen. Looks like ill have to remove the head lining to...

Disco 2 Water from sun visors

To close this out we have had plenty of rain again and i've additionally been out in it too. Not a drip and no sign of anything above the sun visors. Job sorted, resealing the windscreen rubber and the roof gutters has cured all leaks. Its clear to me the water must have got above the sun visors...

my 300tdi auto struggles to pull away

When you say pulling away I suppose you mean harder acceleration than normal running. Just a thought but my first checks on an old motor with a turbo would be the pipes feeding it and the intercooler. if they are weak in any way then they can collapse a little and cause a lack of air flow and...

Disco 2 Water from sun visors

No its a solid vehicle. We've had rain all day today and I've checked and everything is bone dry, including the visors. Points of note are no wet edge to headlining and no misting up and wetness to inside of windscreen, which is the opposite of pre sealing the windscreen and gutters. Im tending...

Disco 2 Water from sun visors

OK i've searched the forum but not really found anything that confirms why my sun visors had water on them after rain. 1998 TD5, no sun roofs and no roof rails. The windscreen seal needed doing by applying black sikaflex along the top of the seal and under the corners. I've also put clear...

    Disco 2 potentially mothballing

My D2 has been unused for a couple of months due to me recovering. I have started once or twice, no problems, but what i do notice is the surface rust on the discs. probably not an issue for the short time ive not used the car but if an extended period it may be worth covering them or the wheels...

Disco 4 (LR4) Broken crank dilema

I was going to ask about oil changes because isnt it an oil issue that causes this failure? Buying with a broken crank though means we now dont know. It would interesting to strip it down and see whats needed to fix it, other than a crank.

    2002 Discovery TD5

I loved the Defender myself and had them for years before my first Disco 2. I have though found that the Disco 2 is far superior to drive, its so much more comfortable, the heater works 100x better and the TD5 is a stonking engine. I would find it hard to go back to a Defender, though I...

    New rear chassis

Hoping not to need to do that. I did replace a rear chassis on the Defender but the Disco started as a good chassis, which I have cleaned up and treated/painted to keep it that way. (Tank out, etc.) I found the new chassis replacement section for the Defender to be much lighter steel than the...

L322 What to look out for on 2004 TD6

It’s clearly been parked up under a cover for good while now. MOT ran out in May so I can assume it’s been in daily use for a few months since the test. I’ll take some jump leads and garage battery with me.

L322 What to look out for on 2004 TD6

OK, some good points, I also note that my Nanocom can only be updated for later 2010 to 2013 models. The chap who owned it passed away last year and I am looking at it purely because a member of my family lives next door. I can look at to value it for me but if its not for me I can at least...

L322 What to look out for on 2004 TD6

Hi, im looking at a L322, 2004 td6, which I believe has the early bmw engine fitted to these vehicles. Its clearly been put on a private plate and had a tdv8 badge added but its definitely a straight 6. Just wanted to know what weaknesses I need to check for and also wondered what the auto box...

    Disco 2 advice please

All good information and of course LR endorsed. LR are so good at R&D that the next generation V6 apparently breaks cranks, I even know someone this happened to so it is a thing it would seem. Lets not continue this debate, I dont find it to be at all useful. Good advice is to follow LR...

    RENEW MY INSURANCE...

Wow, I had similar for my car the other week. Mine was exactly £100 more than I paid last year but after checking others I got a better policy for the same money as last year. For reference it was Churchill that hiked the price up so i've left them, shame because I always felt safe with them.

    Disco 2 advice please

I think I found those documents on here many years ago but also a lot of discussion and debate that helped me in making my mind up as to what I should do. The gasket thickness is a choice of 1 hole, 2 hole or 3 hole, all of which are standard LR to manage piston protrusion or valve I suppose...

    Disco 2 advice please

I think the reasoning over not using the steel dowel was something to do with the damage it may/would cause to the 10p head. There was a difference in the later all steel dowel motors to apparently accomodate this, well there would have to be wouldn't there? Yes the compression is theoretically...
