    P38A 1998 Diesel Puddle Lights

Thanks. Any opinions on replacing the puddle lights without removing the door cards?

    P38A 1998 Diesel Puddle Lights

The right hand front door puddle light (lower courtesy light) on my 1998 RR diesel has just disintegrated. On inspection, the left front door light is not much better. I've only just managed to fit new door cards and I don't really want to remove them in case of damage. Is it possible to...

    Snow Chains

Where I am in the Alpi Apuane mountains in Italy you can choose between fitting snow tyres or keeping your normal tyres and carrying chains. Either is acceptable if you get stopped by the police. I always assumed that chains were a cheaper option, but really inconvenient, and that snow tyres...

    Snow Chains

Is it possible to avoid chains or socks and just use winter tyres?

    P38A 1998 Range Rover Diesel v Late 1990s Defender

I quite like my P38, I'm surprised they are not more desirable, but I am also concerned about the potential unreliability and perhaps lack of longevity. Maybe one day they will be more appreciated. But why do you say the 'Classic was the last of the range rovers, then came the p38?'.

    Snow Chains

Sorry, I've been using the term thermal tyres because that is what they are called here but I've just checked the car and what I am actually talking about is winter tyres with the mountain and the snow flake symbol as shown by brian47 above.

    Snow Chains

Here in the Tuscan hills we have to either carry snow chains or have thermal tyres fitted from 15th November to 15th April. When its snowing having a 4x4 with normal tyres is no good at all on a hill. I learn't this the hard way! A 2WD car with thermal tyres is far better. Presumably, a...

    P38A 1998 Range Rover Diesel v Late 1990s Defender

I've just bought a 1998 P38 Diesel. Here in Italy secondhand cars are expensive and usually in terrible condition. I paid 1000 euros for the car and after about another 1000 euros of work it seems great, so far at least. At the time I was also considering a late 1990s Defender. But here you...

Project 1998 P38 Diesel - Low gear selection

Unfortunately I don't think I have the skills. Last time I tried a job like that was fitting a vinyl roof to my Mk III Cortina back in 1981. It wasn't a big success. :)

Yeah, you are probably right. I pulled off what remained of the headliner cover, it was really quite unpleasant. Its booked in for a replacement in January. The trim shop were fully booked with a 3 month waiting list, apparently its 10 year old VW Golfs that are keeping them busy at the moment.

Mine's a manual too. I'll probably use my local guy for normal work but its good to know the local main dealers can be trusted should I need them.

Project 1998 P38 Diesel - Low gear selection

Yeah, they said Land Rover might email me asking for a rating on their service, I told them i would give them a 10/10. They could have easily told me they had a work around and then claim they had fixed it themselves. I would never have known any different.

Project 1998 P38 Diesel - Low gear selection

Hello I'm new to Land Rover having recently bought myself a very cheap high mileage P38 Diesel as a tow car. It was meant to be a project, we have an old Jeep Cherokee and the idea was that when the Range Rover is complete it will replace the Jeep. I gave myself 2 years to complete things...
