    Need a tailgate handle

The handle has come off my back door. Where is the best place to get a replacement? I've googled spare parts but I don't know what a handle will be listed under. Model is a 1999 1.8 3 door. Thanks. Sarah

    Which engine

I have the back seats folded forward in mine so the dogs have loads of room. The X-Trail doesn't seem to have very good headroom and one of my dogs is quite tall! I'd like a Mitsubishi Shogun Warrior really but I don't think I'll have enough money. So what about the reliability of the TD4 then?

    Which engine

OK so that's out of the question then. I'm going to get rid of my 1.8 petrol and either get a TD4 or something completely different and Japanese! The TD4 has the BMW engine, yes? So I presume it doesn't suffer from the same problems as the K series engine? Is it worth spending my money on...

    Which engine

What is the engine like on the 2.5 V6? Do they have head gasket problems? Is it a BMW or Rover engine?

    freelander water loss

    Thanks for that.:)

    Which engine

Well we were considering a Nissan X-trail. This car will have to last us 5 years before we can afford to change again so I think perhaps we should go Japanese!

    Which engine

No, we're just keeping an eye on the water at the moment. It has a water leak which one garage said was coming from the hg, but someone else said there would be oil in with the coolant if it was a hg failure.

    Which engine

I have a 1.8 petrol (1999) and am looking at possibly another head gasket failure within 7 months of it being replaced, so I'd agree, don't touch the petrol with a barge pole! I don't know if the diesels are any better on head gaskets and everything else? Are they money pits too?

    head gasket-freelander

I had quotes from between £700-£1500. Some garages said they wouldn't do it!

    freelander water loss

Interesting. Mine is leaking water, i have to top it up every couple of days. I was told by the garage that they traced it to the head gasket and I'd need a new head gasket. In a blind panic my husband got another mechanic to have a quick look. He looked in the water bottle and said as it was...

    head gasket-freelander

When my car was having the engine mounting bracket replaced, I asked them to investigate a water leak. They traced it to the head gasket and said the head gasket will need replacing very soon as the water is leaking into the oil. I knew Freelanders had a problem with head gaskets, but I...

I know about the head gasket problems. It's already been replaced so hopefully it'll save me paying out for it!

Help needed on vibrtaion and hold back

I have that 'graunching' noise on mine when I turn a tight circle. Got it booked in with my mechanic for next Thursday to investigate. We knocked the dealer down a couple of hundred quid when we bought it because I didn't know how much it was going to cost to sort out. If CV joints need...

    Fuel consumption

Yes, it's a petrol. We had to get what we could for the little money we had. I need something with plenty of room for two large dogs and with the seats folded forward they have loads of room. They seem to be very popular as most of the ones I phoned up to see were sold. I've heard good reports...

That's what I was told about the Disco! I bought a Freelander.:)

    Fuel consumption

Well it all seems positive so far. I would actually rather have a Freelander Commercial, but there don't seem to be many around for my small budget. I wanted as much space as possible for the dogs as they are really the only passengers! We're going to look at the Disco tomorrow and my husband...
