D2 brake pedal to the floor

That is what I thought, but I tried another modulator and the exact symptoms arose. I couldn't believe both modulators would have the same rear near side inlet valve fault. My next job then is to source a working unit or to have mine refurbished, as I said in an earlier post some places give a...

D2 brake pedal to the floor

Will do that tomorrow as long as it doesn't rain, thing is when I force the rear nearside inlet valve on I get a good pedal surely this means the valve is letting by? Andy

D2 brake pedal to the floor

In reply to James and Sierrafery instructions I have ruled out the master cylinder and blocked the four outlets. On blocking the four outlets the pedal went solid, I then bled the calipers and the pedal went to the floor. The calipers are new and have no leaks as are all the flexible and copper...

    Should say 10 mm unions.

D2 brake pedal to the floor

Yes, I did think about that but I was only going to connect the rear calipers as I only have 10 unions. What's your thoughts on having my unit reconditioned. Some of these places give a lifetime guarantee. Andy

D2 brake pedal to the floor

Good point James, I blocked up the outlets to the master cylinder with a couple of ball bearings and some brake unions and stood on the pedal with both feet and the pedal didn't move a millimetre, but what you say is a good point as when the Hawkeye bleeds the modulator it sucks the fluid from...

D2 brake pedal to the floor

Sorry for the long delay in replying, I've been a bit under the weather. Right, I've checked servo rod and all is well, checked master cylinder and that is ok. Last weekend I made 4 brake lines that I fitted into the 4 outlets of the abs pump and had them all going into a glass jar. I used the...

D2 brake pedal to the floor

Hawkeye says manual bleed then it bleeds the modulator first and then the calipers.

D2 brake pedal to the floor

Hi Brian, when bleeding the calipers I use the tube and jar method. This I've done manually with a cursing assistant, namely my elderly father whom refers to the Disco, "That #+;$ing motor". When using Hawkeye I go all through the sequence bleeding the modulator about 4 times, and yes it sounds...

D2 brake pedal to the floor

I see, I'll try tomorrow. Thing is it feels like air, the pedal goes to the floor and when you pump again you get half a pedal, but I will adjust servo rod tomorrow. Thanks

What's your thinking on the servo rod?

D2 brake pedal to the floor

No Ace, but it has the ace box under underside passenger seat.

D2 brake pedal to the floor

Thanks, but I've got that and done it, used the Hawkeye to bleed the modulator as well, and still the pedal goes to the floor.

    Newby

Have got EKA code and will try to sort some pictures of the various mechanical operations she has endured at the hands of Dr Me. She's got a good body and a good motor, but has a job slowing things down. Anyone else reckon the gearbox and transfer box are a tad heavy when your homemade gearbox...

Hello all, did what everyone was telling me not to do, and bought a Disco 2. Always wanted one, and now I've got one. There were a few problems with the old girl, brakes, rear chassis, clutch, steering, and most are sorted now except the brakes Also, for some unknown reason my finances are...

D2 brake pedal to the floor

Hi all, this is my first post and I am hoping that one of you can solve my brake problem. Last year bought a 2001 manual Discovery 2 td5 as a project. Fitted new discs, calipers, lines and flexible hoses, and trw master cylinder, New hubs and Cv joints. I've used about 10 litres of brake fluid...
