Snow was great, beautiful weather. And the light still works!

    Corroded lights and foil...

Yes that's a good plan, I've never soldered before though. However, I've managed to bend remaining prong without snapping it off and I now have light! This always happens with my rear light and indicators, should have replaced the mudguards when they fell off... Thanks all, but should be ok for...

    Corroded lights and foil...

I did look at all others but they are all 2 pin plugs, the rear lights are 3 pin, so not completely straighforward (for me). I'll have a go though as don't want to travel with bust light...

    Corroded lights and foil...

One of my rear lights is corroded, so the bulb doesn't make the connection. I'm travelling to Andorra tonight and don't really want to do it with a rear light out. It works if I shove a bit og foil in, to make the connectio, is there any reson why I shouldnt do this as a temp fix? Cheers in advance

    Indicator bulb housing

I need the bulb housing (the bit that the bulb goes in) for a defender puma. They keep corroding and paddocks only sell them with the indicator unit included, anyone know where to just get a housing. I know thr whole unit isnt that expensive but I dont want to start pilling up indicators. Cheers.

    Muddy Fields and tyres

Thanks for all the advice and ideas. Unfortunately, tractors are not cheap in France, I'm tempted though... Just had the French MOT done, loads of issues, one being a "gravely worn tyre" - bit of an exaggeration, but I've got to buy new tyres now!

    Muddy Fields and tyres

THanks totto, I'll try lowering the pressure, I guess that's what people do when off-roading (which I know nothing about)? Having just had a look, I have more like 0.5cm of tread at the back too, I'll get some new skinnies in time for next winter...

    Muddy Fields and tyres

Hello I have a 2009 SW 110, on factory steels with Michelin xzl 7.5 tyres, which I've always been very happy with. However, last year I started a market garden and through the winter I need to pull a trailer (typically full of manure) through a muddy field on a non-trivial slope. The Michelins...

    Battery issue?

Hard to say if issue went away when new battery was bought, as at that time the problem was so intermittent, but I don't think it did... It's awkward as we are quite isolated in France, and don't speak great French! Thanks for replies and suggestions. Shall try to communicate with local mechanic...

    Battery issue?

Hello I bought a new battery for my Defender 2.4 Puma, a bit less than a year ago. I had a very intermittent problem starting the engine, I'm turn the key and I would hear something sluggishly try to turn but no ignition, this would repeat a dozen times then the engine would start. Problem would...

    Immobiliser issue?

Strange thing happened today with 2.4 TDCI 110. About to head off on school run, turned key, nothing, no lights nothing. So I prodded batter terminals, turned key and the lights came on, but engine would not turn over - nothing. Thought maybe the fob battery, although I'm sure I replaced it 6...

    Land Rover parts

Yeah I think maybe there was a charging problem, but it was a cheap and cheerful battery too - as you'd expect from the MOD.

    Land Rover parts

Interestingly, while waiting for the new sensor to arrive, I was chatting to a pal who told me that most faults these days are battery related, because there are so many electrical components/sensors in modern engines and they need contact and sufficient power source. So I changed the battery...

    Land Rover parts

Cheers for reply. It's 6C11-12B579-AA. The problem I experience is power loss / limp mode when idling, or coming to a stop at a junction. Same thing happened earlier in the year, I cleaned the sensor then, but I was not convinced that this resolved the issue - the weather improved and that maybe...

    Land Rover parts

I'm having a recurrence of, what I think is, a MAF sensor problem. I've tried cleaning it. Next plan is to replace. The LandRover sensor costs 3 times as much as the BritPart one, is it worth spending the extra?

2.4 TDCI will not turn over

I can't believe this! Last night I took the fob off the key ring a put it in the little shelf next to the steering wheel. Because I kept accidentally turning the alarm on when collecting kids from school. I had no flipping idea that the fob was communicating with the ignition and had to be with...

2.4 TDCI will not turn over

Do the dash lights dim when you turn the key? No Do you hear a click at all? No Do you know where the solenoid is? Yes, but it is not accessible, I don't have the equipment to safely raise the vehicle and get under it. Have you got a pair of insulated pliers to short across the solenoid...
