Can i change stc226 for ftc2882? I know the swivel ball will have to be changed due to the bush/bearing difference. But will the swivel pin housing?

I’ve searched and searched and can confirm that they are definitely Early disco 1 / range rover classic 10 spline axles with the stubby outer shaft with integral drive flange. Question: Are they any better/stronger than newer axles? 300tdi, td5, tdci ?

Everything seems to point towards early discovery axles with 10 spline shafts. Can anyone confirm this?

It will fit yes, it will bolt directly to the engine and your existing mounts. You wont need new props. If you use the disco gear sticks they’ll be further back, so you’ll need to cut into your seatbox. You can use your defender gear sticks by getting the adapter from ashcrofts.

ok guys, bit of an update for you. the front and rear axles have integral drive flanges and I think that they are the thick ones. does this shed some light?

It was originally a 19j, it had a 200tdi in it when i bought it and now has a 3.9 v8:D Its been messed about with quite a lot over the years.

Hello forum members, Is it possible to identify what my axles have come off? I bought my 90 with the intention to strip it down and rebuild. Its a 1990 vehicle with solid discs all round. Ive scraped the paint away to try and find any identification numbers but nothing has stood out yet...

Don't suppose you've ever opened one up to see how the oil is kept away from the coolant? I’m a fabricator/welder and am pretty confident of being able to make my own radiator up with integral oil coolers.

The factory radiators have one for the engine oil cooler, the allisport radiators have the option of 2 so you can plumb in to the gearbox

This might sound dumb, but i honestly dont know! I have been looking for a radiator for my v8 conversion (defender 90 200tdi to v8) i have seen the allisport one with the 2 oil coolers and was wondering, Is it oil or water that goes through the cooler?
