Thanks all for your replies. I am at a stage(age?) where working outside on a cold wet day is not great so I took the Freelander to a local one-man band. Not collected yet. I don't think there will be a "happy ending"!

Have just had my Freelander 1 fail its MOT, new track rod end ball joints and lower suspension arm required, see attachment. Although the failure was on one suspension arm, I plan to renew both and similarly track rod ends I plan to carry out the work myself, after looking at YouTube videos...

2006 Freelander 1 MoT fail No problem changing dip-beam bulb! I used to make up and fit my own brake pipes but lying on your back in wet weather is now not my idea of fun:( So, what's a ball park figure to get the above work carried out? Anyone in NP4 post code area want the job;) Thanks all

Andy, sorry I didn't note the name on the box, came from local motor factor. Mechanic used to deal with Bearmach but he said they had gone into liquidation

Two front drive shafts (2-year unlimited mileage warranty) including fitting came to £355.72 Good result has stopped all the vibration:)

Whilst putting new runners on the tail one of the window heating contacts came unstuck from the window, see left-hand contact on photo. Question: is there an electrical contacting glue I could use to stick contact to glass or any other work around? Thanks

I overcame the problem with a 75mm x 8mm screw on each leg of the runner. See photos

I installed the new regulator from LR Trade Parts, relatively straight forward job BUT rear window does not go under the top plastic moulding when tailgate is shut, see photo. I have adjusted the bolts arrowed on photo to push the runners further back to alter the angle of the window but still...

No problem with bearings, just the rubber mounts. I did ask and they could not come up with a reason for failure

To complete this thread: The VCU and support bearings were purchased from Bell Engineering so I gave them a ring re the failing rubber bearing mounts. They agreed to fit at no cost and gave a small discount for new rubber mounts which I got done last week Thank you Bell Engineering for work...

I have been getting a noise on my F L 1 facelift similar to the exhaust contacting the bodywork when turning sharp left and right. The weather is now a bit cooler so I had a crawl underneath, all exhaust mountings in good condition but but a lot of play in the VCU rubber mountings which I reckon...

Ali, thanks for reply, I had a play and everything went back together, having the key in the lock made the difference

I dropped the fuel cap which is now in three pieces! I "think" it should go back together but any advice very welcome apart from don't drop again!!

A minor detail but I'd like to get it right. See photos of air inlet duct retaining screws; one is missing and the other is not doing a lot! I am interested to know what the original fitting looked like
