Freelander 1 Inlet nut came loose. How to glue copper + ABS?

Managed to get the bolt out. Initially it came out together with that "metallic cylinder housing", then I pushed it out from it.

Freelander 1 Inlet nut came loose. How to glue copper + ABS?

I also used hylomar actually. To my surprise today I took off the inlet and the nut was actually unmovable. So basically what happened was... last time when I tested the nut and saw it moving I stopped screwing altogether. 2 months later - today, the nut was just 2 mm out of its cage, but...

Freelander 1 Inlet nut came loose. How to glue copper + ABS?

Thanks for suggestion! I am now waiting for glue to set. I leave it to cure for a month or two just to avoid drilling the cam cover. Honestly I would not dare use a drill there. Worst case I will leave it like that. Will this affect performance 100%? What are the odds for air to escape, if all...

Freelander 1 Inlet nut came loose. How to glue copper + ABS?

Aha! So that’s why it didn’t work first 2 times . I tried screwing after about 4 hours or so. How about acrylic resin? That’s the one I have left for now.

Freelander 1 Inlet nut came loose. How to glue copper + ABS?

The copper nut that holds inlet manifold to crankcase came loose. It basically came out of the plastic hole that holds it. I marked it in the picture attached (ignore the useless blue line :D). I tried several methods of gluing it back into the ABS plastic, but every time I screw the inlet back...

Freelander 1 Rear brake nipples and bleed

I ended up bleeding from the main pipes. The brake feels ok. The bolts to remove the cylinder are stuck. The bleed pipe also seems stuck. I cannot imagine who did this screwy job..... And because it's aluminium at play I would most likely brake them. My only option was to buy 2 new cylinders. I...

Freelander 1 Battery light flashing, erratic idlING

Ok so, after investigating everything I could, I realised the problem was in my face. Some weeks ago I dismantled the front bumper. I remember meddling with the wires that go under the intercooler and connect to horn and lights (not sure where they go from there underneath; maybe bumper impact...

Freelander 1 Battery light flashing, erratic idlING

I recently changed those. They spin. Not sure what else to check. As far I can see they don't slip, especially when idling.

Freelander 1 Battery light flashing, erratic idlING

Hi guys! Driving home from MOT , battery light started flashing. At first from time to time, but 3-4 days along the line it always shows up a few miles after startup. Maybe it has to do with heat because light never flushes immediately after start (cool engine). The usual trigger is when I get...

Freelander 1 Rear brake nipples and bleed

Hey there! I'm trying to bleed, but the rear brake nipples are hidden!! Whoever mounted the cylinders pushed them too much on the inside, so it's impossible to loosen the nipple. The screws holding the cylinder are rotten and rounded :D. I've tried to use some vice grips around the nipple, with...

Freelander 1 TD4 Brakes Guide Pins and Brake Pads Position

Nice! Cheers Andy! Second piece of the puzzle demystified, almost. First of all, only one sloping chamfer can be used as the leading edge on the direction of travel. The other pair is reversed. If “horizontal chamfer” means the one opposite to the sloping chamfer (monkey scratching head) then...

Freelander 1 TD4 Brakes Guide Pins and Brake Pads Position

Cheers Nodge! And for those who care about the guide pins, I found reliable information saying that from 2003 onwards the shorter guide pin with rubber bushing are to be used as trailing pins. Trailing pins are basically the ones that come second as the rotor spins. In my case the callipers...

OK, thanks! I actually can't remember anything as rain stoped me from working for a long time :D, I hope 400 sand paper will do.

Freelander 1 TD4 Brakes Guide Pins and Brake Pads Position

Hey landys, Nab questions. I removed both front brakes (first time ever) and now I have doubts putting them back, as both sets are mixed together. I cannot remember which guide pin goes on top (the short one with plastic or the long one?). Also I see brake pads have one of the edges bent...
