    D2 TD5. Hazards flashing, won't turn off

Well folks, I've finally got to the bottom of this problem. Or at least some one in Holland did, but as he's an Englishman he can't speak Dutch and he posted the results of his identical problem in English on a Dutch LR forum (luckily). The wire from the engine bay fuse box to the interior fuse...

Hi folks Ive been enjoying my Disco so much, my lad has bought a 300Tdi 110 Defender. The previous owners have swapped the chassis but not finished the job of quite, so none of the indicators or lights work amongst other things. Ive been looking without success where to find a link to the...

Disco 1 Quick CV joint question

Yes, thats just the carrier you can see, it keeps the balls in line. The hard work is done by the outer hub and the centre. Make sure to push plenty of molybdenum grease into the joint before refitting

    Disco 2 Heated Front Windscreen

i had to have a new screen in my P38 because the heater elements had gone. And now my D2 screen only has about two thirds of it working. Same with my wifes C Max, so screen failures quite normal after a few years.

    Disco 2 Noisy wipers fixed

Thanks for the offer, but I had already ordered some pipes and just waiting to find a couple of hours to fit them. Its only a low pressure one to the reservoir leaking very slightly, but ordered the one to the pump as well as thats looking very rusty too. Thanks again for the offer though

    Disco 2 Noisy wipers fixed

Noisy wipers? What other sort are there? Seriously though, yes it's a job I need to get around to. I think the permanent rust stain around the base of the wipers is evidence that the wheel boxes are worn out. But first i need to sort the leaking ACE pipe.............

    Disco 2 FalconTyres

The issue with mine was obviously down to one make of tyre on the rear, and a different make on the front. Now it's got the same make and type of tyre on the front and rear it drive so much better. I had already checked all the steering and suspension over to eliminate anything like that.

    Disco 2 FalconTyres

Fixed :) I decided to take the plunge and spend some more hard earned, and the front Michelins were starting to crack on the side walls. 2 new Falkens on the front to match the rear tyres, Total transformation. Its nice to drive at any speed now, just how it should be.

Auto TD5 Disco2 loadsa black smoke going uphill towing .

Black smoke is over fueling (too much diesel) or lack of air into the cylinders. So as above, check all the boost pressure hoses are good, and that the intercooler isn't damaged also check the air filter isn't too dirty or any thing else restricting the air coming into the engine.

    Ignition

Hi I don't know what motor you've got, but if the engine isn't turning over on the key, but then it did fine. It sounds more likely to be a starter motor or connection onto the starter that is the problem. How handy are you under the bonnet and what Disco is it? I don't know my way round all the...

    Disco 2 Weird start

Don't forget to check the connections are clean and tight. Especially the little one on the solenoid. That little on its own could cause this problem, so could a worn solenoid. Time to carry a bar and hammer, next time it happens get somebody to hold the key in the start position and then you...

    Engine Oil

There are different qualities of oil available, whether they are semi or fully synthetic. Yes they will be suitable for use in turbo charged diesel engines if it says so on the tin. What it doesn't say on the tin is how long they will continue to meet that specification. I came across a...

    Engine Oil

I agree, sludging isn't much of an issue these days - because almost all oils you buy will be at least a semi synth. I was making the point that I would not put a mineral oil into any engine with a turbocharger, and using the sludging as an example of what happens to a mineral oil as it degrades.

    Disco 2 Weird start

A quick battery test is to try and start it in gear with the brakes hard on (to stop it running away) what you are doing is putting a large electrical load onto the battery - but only for a couple of seconds though !!!!! Check the battery voltage while you doing this, anything less than 10...

    Engine Oil

Personally I would not put any mineral oil into a turbo'd engine whether its petrol or diesel. My preference in turbo engines is a full synthetic. A turbocharger doesn't have any bearings on the turbine shaft, it relies on a film of oil to lubricate and prevent wear. Any breakdown in the...

    D3 Air suspension problem

Hi Folks Just to let you know this is now fixed. It was the air reservoir leaking. It looked fine from underneath, but when I removed it you could see a bit of rust bubbling through the paint along the seam - but no obvious holes. so made up a connector and immersed in a tank of water with 2 bar...

    D2 TD5. Hazards flashing, won't turn off

Thanks for that information Brian. I removed the fusebox and opened the box - no sighns of any dampness or water staining. I the swapped the fuse box with known good one and the fault is still present. Just to double check I fitted the fuse box from the poorly vehicle onto the good one and the...
