    Is Something Missing

Yes, thank you, it does help. A pic is worth a thousand words.

The The split is on the top, about an inch from the front clamp (which seems to have been put in by a pygmy with a right angled driver). I have heard good things about the silicon hoses.

    Is Something Missing

After checking the hoses for the fifth time, I found a hole the LH intercooler hose. Wow, that hose is hard to get off, what an awkward connection to contend with. Will probably have to cut it off when I get the replacement hose PNH00020 equivalent.

Thank you for replying. It is a relief that nothing is missing. The oil may have been spilled, I will clean it up and see if more appears. There is no obvious oil leak that I can see. I have checked the hoses and they seem to be intact. I changed the PCV about 12 months ago (thanks LandyZone)...

The pic is (looking from the front of the engine) at the right back.

Not sure where the oil came from.

I have a Freelander Td4 blowing black smoke. In trying to locate the cause, I noticed a valve that seems to have something missing. Can some kind soul

Freelander 2 (LR2) Auto transmission cooler

    Sorry, thought it was correct.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Auto transmission cooler

Thanks for the reply. If I understand it correctly, the light blue unit in the pic is a heat exchanger part number UBC000070 (which I don't need). I will try searches relating to transmission air blast cooler. Yep, found a pic, now just need to find the part...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Auto transmission cooler

Had considered that, but the current arrangement does not use a transmission air blast cooler. Seems 21 vane cooler may be required.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Auto transmission cooler

Looking at the pic, there must be about 20 vanes. I can't get to the garage to check the dimensions and count the number of vanes, and the mechanic is being uncooperative (which is one reason for getting the car out of his hands).

Freelander 2 (LR2) Auto transmission cooler

Thanks for replying, and the tip. Thought that since we are going into winter it would be ok. I don't know what what size the universal transcooler should be. There seem to be plenty of options around, with many having a fan attached.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Auto transmission cooler

Thanks for replying. It is pretty flat in the Mallee. RACV count hitting a roo as an accident, so they won't do it. The roo bounced across the road in front of me, got safely to the other side, then turned around and came back. The lower left front bumper hit his head despite my trying to avoid...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Auto transmission cooler

Hi I hit a kangaroo and the mechanic says that the Auto transmission cooler, fan and shroud need to be replaced. He and I can't find a replacement in Australia. Have been looking at universal replacements and am unsure of what would fit. The car is 120 km from home, and I thought that the Auto...
