Td5 low power & poor torque mystery.

The shop that did it coded and checked afterwards as well. According to them everything was up to specs. And Kwakerman : What do you mean "duff coolant" or "air temperature sender"? If you mean coolant, it is up to spec, LR approved red. And with air temp sender do you mean the ambient air...

Td5 low power & poor torque mystery.

Do tell! Thx for the patience, everyone involved! And yep, have been involved with sensitive electronics in cold climates my life (cameras, lights etc) but this case really baffles me. Waiting for that Nanocom...

Td5 low power & poor torque mystery.

Curious : What would that affect, heating up the "electronics"? Fuel pump, Ecu? I can understand leaving the engine running, yes. But, electronics... Genuinely curious!?

Td5 low power & poor torque mystery.

Kwakerman: You dare to guess how that could affect in real life? I mean, trying to move from cold start -> Some weirdness on the diff end -> ABS keeps wheel breaked -> Stall? Any similar scenario where that kind of thing might happen? The weirdness is that I have not notice that in other kind of...

Td5 low power & poor torque mystery.

Tried disconnection : No dice. No difference in performance either. Could not get up that bloody little slope with or without. It just basically stalls, for few seconds the drive lights flicker and if you dont press the clutch, the car stalls. Clutch depressed the car revs normally but when...

Td5 low power & poor torque mystery.

So, have had slight issues with my ´04 TD5 Defender, 200.000km. From a cold start it absolutely sucks at torq and I have to A) wait for the engine to warm up 5mins or B) use 4low to get out of my driveways small hill. Engine starts fine, on the first try. Engine runs evenly and does not have...

Do i need a anti roll bar?

Curious about your logic : Why?? Replacing bushes, springs & shocks : Parts alone around 1000€k + hours if you do it yourself 10+ hours or do it in shop 800-1000€ more = 2000€ caching. Used ARB for rear 10€ + replace it yourself 15minutes = 10€. I do understand if there is need to repace some...

Cutting accesshatch for fuel pump in TD 5 Hard Top 110?

So, found the drawings for how and where to cut the access hatch for replacing the fuel pump but couple of questions remain! 2004 TD5 HardTop 110 - It seems that it would cut through one stringer, at least partially? How does this affect the integrity of the chassis? Doing a camper build and I...

TD5 shaking engine when going into idle mystery.

I think (the shop uses) Shell/Mobil 5W30 A5/B5 stuff. Damn weird issue. As the clutch is in its final legs, the DMF failing could also actually fit the bill. After a longer drive in the city with a lot of gear changes it feels the shudder is a bit stronger & longer... Oh well, 200k km on it...

Do i need a anti roll bar?

Some more experienced geezer stated that "90% better handling and 10% less performance". Dont know how accurate the statement is. Installed the stock arb one on my ´04 110 a while ago. Marked difference in handling : tracks better, less roll, more predictable when cornering, calmer in general...

TD5 shaking engine when going into idle mystery.

Not that worried but the shop did the head gaskets 6 mths ago, so better to have it checked out now while it is still under their warranty. :) Btw, how does worn engine mount bushings manifest? One could think that the vibrations would be constant? Just curious..

TD5 shaking engine when going into idle mystery.

Thx guys for some pointers! Have to take the car back to shop to get the injector balance checked. The issue is pequliar in that sense that I havent noticed the shudders when the engine is cold. That has also made me "rule out" the DMFs as I cant fathom how temps warming up might manifest...

TD5 shaking engine when going into idle mystery.

Thought about it, a bit. But shouldnt the vibrations continue, like, forever? Now the engine stabilizes after few seconds. If the mounts would be shot (or the bushes worn out) the problem would persist, for a longer period while the engine is running? Now it feels like the engine is running with...

TD5 shaking engine when going into idle mystery.

So. Weird and slightly annoying issue. 2004 110 TD5, 195k km. Engine runs and pulls relatively normally, no misfires, smoke of any kind etc but when revs go down towards idle, the engine starts shaking for few seconds before stabilizing to normal. When starting cold no shaking is observed when...

TD5 "limp mode" and enginelight mystery : What to do?

The saga came to conclusion finally. Problems continued, intermittently. Read the codes and there were two faults, crankshaft sensor and throttle position. Garage decided to change only the crankshaft sensor as it looked that someone (previous owner?) had already changed the throttle pedal not...

TD5 "limp mode" and enginelight mystery : What to do?

Thx Ac! A quick recap : 600km since the last warning light..."problem" seemed to have remedied itself... Actions taken : - First disconnected the MAF, problems continued. - MAF+MAP+Airsensor checked and cleaned (MAP was clean, others were ok), problems continued. - Checked and lubed the...

TD5 "limp mode" and enginelight mystery : What to do?

In short, 2004 TD5 Defender 110, 180k km. Engine was "rebuilt" 500km ago after head gasket went, AMC cylinderhead in place. Weird problem has come up : Engine goes into a "Limp Mode" now and then. Engine stays on but throttle stops responding and amber engine light comes on. Turn the ignition...
