Trying to reduce our fuel bill TD5 29mpg max (A roads) does anyone have experience of Rover 75/MG ZTT either V6 or diesel? Only want to spend £1500

Working thro' the issues with our td5, sunroof leaks,wobbling gear stick,leaking transer box & coolant loss... Has anyone upgraded to Disco 3 and been plagued with faults or are they a more reliable and (expensive) option.

Cleaned out the inlet manifold & replaced gasket with Britpart item. Had to cut the radius away from bottom lh corner to make it fit... Anyone else had Britpart fit problems???:(

On our 2nd 300tdi in 6 years,de cat & non EGR . Any sensible methods to add a few more bhp. Recent belt change at 120k only 128k now,replace injectors would probably help? Serviced every 6k. Are TD5's real world faster, have driven two both seemed much smoother but not significantly...

Changed to a Sony cd player in a 300tdi. Open the door or switch interior light on & radio/cd switches off. Presume they share the same wiring loom?

Anyone have a rear window wiper motor assy to sell for a 300tdi 96 disco. Must be later version with plug in connectors & not soldered joints. Work in Bucks,live in Warwicks.

Replaced head gasket on 300tdi. Followed the Haynes manual except numbering the valve caps. Will check valve clearance but engine is a non starter at the moment. Loads of smoke though. Should No1 piston be at tdc for hg replacement?:o

Disco 300 tdi 194k regular servicing Smokes on tickover once warmed up but not from cold All filters oil changed on frequent basis. No smoke during normal driving? Smoke is noticed by others!!!

The heater controls are no longer illuminated. Are they controlled by a rheostat or is just bulb/fuse replacement.

Just read an an article in 'car mechanics' with a high mileage van... What is high mileage for a Disco,mines @ 186k but I guess 250k+ is possible without major replacements ?

After adjusting the tappets,noticed no.6 tappet locknut would not tighten. Don't want to remove head to remove tappet,am thinking of an additional locknut or lock wire. Anyone had similar experience.

Am considering an upgarde to a TD5,as the 300 tdi needs sills/inner wings,x membe & clutch. Any major 'faults' other than oil in loom:confused: Looking at 1999 models (seem reasonably priced now)

Had to use diff lock after getting stuck in ruts. Had to reverse out to escape... Orange light went out after dis-engaging. For two days vibrations were 'greater' throughout the vehicle, seems to have returned to normal again. Is this wind up between the 2 diffs,if so how do I prevent it.

The seat is slowly subsiding leaving a pain in the posterior on journeys above 30 miles. Should I swap the front seats (giving the problem to my passengers) or buy a repair kit from Exmoor Trim;has anyone tried this?

On a return trip from South Wales the winscreen wiper decided to stop at an angle of 45 degs. Stripped assy & got it moving again thanks to WD40 on the spindle, relay works (clicks on) but motor now keeps blowing the fuse. Can I reset the motor? The whole assy is £110+ Is it worth using parts...

Had to do a 'non emergency' stop on a dual carriageway.65 down to 25. The disco 'snaked' & nearly drifted to 2nd lane.Non abs 1994 300 tdi. The tyres are British AT remoulds,correct pressure, each 5+mm tread. Do the calipers ever partially seize or should I look elsewhere. Replacement...

After 400 miles I am adding 1/2 litre of coolant to the header tank. The head gasket & radiator were replaced at 100 thou now at 180k. Cant see any leaks from the hoses.

Had a squeaking from the front of engine last year so changed the water pump. Squeaking has returned & is constant. Replaced all belts/tensioners & cleaned pullies 2 years ago. Alternator on it's way out? (Red light goes out within 5 secs of starting) Disco 300 tdi 180k

Noticed the swivel housings were pitted during a service at the weekend. It's filled with grease. Do I need to change them asap or can I wait until the lighter nights... No major leaks at the moment. Also paddocks do the service kit,is the swivel housing listed as a Defender part.
