    Its time to say goodbye

As everyone knows, the car industry worldwide is in the doldrums so every sale is important wether it's an internal or external sale. As a manager driving the product, I change it every 9 months thereby stimulating the new and used car sales. My Td5 is a BMW / Land Rover project, the camshaft...

Cold heaters, Squirting water from header tank!?!

My TD5 Auto started to lose water over a couple of days. Had her pressure tested and Co2 tested - all fine. Replaced the header tank cap and promptly lost a litre of water in 176km. 2nd cap proved to be faulty so it was replaced again. since then no problems until I sold the truck.

    Its time to say goodbye

Well I've spent a lot of money, had some great times in "ryperd" but now the company is forcing me to drive the product we make so it's a 1 series beemer for me now:( I would have liked to keep her for the weekends but I just can't afford to run all the family cars on one salary. We decided to...

I'm really puzzled and any advice would be good

My TD5 auto has been losing a bit of water lateley, not much, having to top her up every 3rd or 4th day doing +/- 100km per day. Not being happy with this and a trip to the Kruger Park coming up, I had a pressure test done which showed no leaks in the plumbing. A co2 test also showed no head...

Disco 2 TD5 Buzzing near instrument cluster / fusebox

I've got the same on my car. It is the fan which draws cabin air over a sensor to regulate the air con / heater temp in the car. I keep meaning to take it out and clean all the dust off it.....have you ever looked at a washing m/c motor...with all the cleaning the missus does it's a wonder where...

    Disco 2 Front Seat Foam

My mate had the same problem. He managed to get hold of a Renualt Logan front seat cushion foam from one of our suppliers. He had to cut the slits forthe retainer strips but he says it is a perfect fit. Maybe get one from a scrap yard or from Renault. Probably cheaper than a stealer!

    Hi Pitched Squeal TD5?

Strange, I've got a similar problem. Ocasionally a high pitched squeal / buzz comes in at around 120kph. Sounds like it is rh front although it seems to eminate from around the binnacle area. Totally confused cause it appears very seldom.

    Service and faults

Hi eightinavee, I gather they saw negative compensation values in the live cylinder balancing.....whatever that means:confused:

    Service and faults

Hi Guys, a bit of help needed please. My TD5 went in for 222,000km service this week. Asked them to look at slight vibration at 120kph. Reported back that all drive train and suspension bushes etc was ok but suspected engine related misfire causing the vibration. Reported faults via the test...

    Discovery TD5 - Autobox / Dashboard Lights - Strange Behaviour - Flashing "S" and "M"

Just for info, My TD5 Auto has been running fine for a while now but I left her in the works car park for 4 days while testing another car. The battery was flat when I went to use her again and the S & M lights were flashing when I finally got her jump started. Turns out the battery was a bit...

    Disco TD5 ?

Hi Chris2, I've got a TD5 Auto 2000my with 215,000km on the clock. Would only recommend Auto, it's great to drive. Make sure it's been properly serviced, nice and clean etc (no oil leaks....ha,ha,ha). Look out for tell tale signs of Head Gasket troubles (oil in water etc). I've done head...

    Discovery TD5 1999 - head gasket blown.

I would get it pressure and sniff tested before anything is done. My head gasket was done last year and I'm a bit paranoid about it. Every week I check oil and water levels. When I changed my radiator late last year, after a couple of months it sounded like air was in the system but with no...

    Door Handles on Disco ??

I drive a Ryperd (Africaans for horse) cunningly disguised as a TD5 Discovery. I call her Ryperd all the time but it does feel cold sometimes with the saddle on the roof!! If I remember correctly, we used a lot of parts from the Rover parts bin during the development of disco 1. The door...

    Airlock

The system was originally bled with the bleed screw out and as I said there were no signs of air for 4000km. How do I circulate the water with the screw out in order to get the airlock out. It seems trapped around the heater matrix as the sound always comes from there. How do I get it to move...

    Airlock

Please help. I recently replaced my radiator on my TD5 Disco II due to a leak. Filled her up ok and have now driven +/- 4,000km without any problems. Now all of a sudden it sounds like there is air in the system rushing into the heater matrix down at my left knee. It only appears to happen when...

I hope it's not the Headgasket again!!

The truck is a TD5 Auto with 211,000km on the clock. I had the headgasket done at 185,000km due to overheating cause the stupid dealer didn't notice the leaking radiator. At 207,000km I noticed a slight drop in water (been paranoid ever since the h/g went). Turned out to be the radiator leaking...

    Pull Off woes

Hallo Nick, I'm in Pretoria and I also experience the same. I've kinda gotten used to it now. The boost kicks in around 2000rpm and then she takes off but my life she feels sluggish up until then. You either floor it and hope you can enter the traffic or wait a while for a suitable gap...

    Mystery fan in dash

It's is what David says. The fan draws air from the cabin across a sender which then compares temperature to what is set on the Air/con. The A/C adjusts accordingly. Mine also sounds a bit noisey but it doesn't run all the time. When I get round to it, I'll take it out and give it a bit of a...

TD5's - are they worth it?

I would definately go for the Auto if it's a good one. It also depends on the driving you are going to do. 80% of my driving is on Tarred roads (main roads / Highways) and 20% dirt roads / off road. The Auto is perfect for this....and you can't beat an Auto when crawling in heavy traffic or...
