    @Jamesmartin 79 onwards where the 17 digit VIN numbers, but there was a short time that they used a 14 digit VIN number. And I was looking why they used the 17 digit without the first three digits (SAL). @UK_Akita Did you test yout links? They don't give information about a 14 character VIN...

    Who knows something about the 14 dgit VIN numbers? It's like the 17 digits without SAL in front. There was a story about the location of the Land Rover factory, I think. It is on a Series III from 1982. Kind regards Wim

    Hi Andy, It's a vacuump pump for your brake servo. The other hole has to be open to get rid of his air. It's a hobby ish way to get a better vacuum then the faulty butterfly valve in the air intake. I assume this has been removed to give the diesel engine a better breathing. Another solution...

    Don't forget de butterflyvalve in the airway which is used to get some vacuum for the power assisted braking device. Better is to remove this valve and put in an electrical vacuumpump which is switched on by the brakeswitch.. In this way you have a much better airflow and a much more stable...
