Hi, 24G means it a V8 for the defender, 5 numbers are the serial number and the suffix is the modification reference. Sounds like it is the original engine.

Sounds good, I think the V8 is a good investment. what suffix letter is your V8 engine number? Mine is stamped A.

Hi, Many thanks for the reply. The garage said they had put waxoyl on top. If that is the case, would it be straight forward to remove to see the chassis number? Am loathed to attempt for fear of removing the number as well. R
