Prep to fit new fuel tank

ok got the answers I needed by looking online here and there - seems best for me to change the fuel hose going from tank to engine and return to fuel tank since the original one wouldn't be long enough as it'd source the diesel from hole #5 rather than #4 - found this one close to home (link) -...

Prep to fit new fuel tank

2 years down the line and the only progress made has been to paint the new tank with Raptor - jeez! I haven't been to Ghana lately because of work commitments but in my last visit I wanted to perform the change but guess what?? something is wrong The fuel tank I bought is unfortunately not the...

Clutch master and slave cylinder overhaul

I found the master cylinder of TRW and the slave of AP - good reliable brands I'd assume. Kindly confirm the part number are correct and if there is anything else I should change whilst I am at it :)

Clutch master and slave cylinder overhaul

Thanks a lot everyone! So, @jamesmartin, for the Master I'd go for 550732 & slave for TKC2786L correct ? how to ensure that the thread will be correct since I see here (link) that a common problem is that there are various types of threads available? shall I also get anything else whilst I am...

Clutch master and slave cylinder overhaul

So the master cylinder is the one of the original engine fitted (Defender V8) whereas the slave cylinder is of the current engine fitted (Disco 200 TDI) ? If that was the case there are 3 variants for the slave cylinder (TKC2786LG, FTC2498, FTC5072) - how would I know which one is a good fit?

Prep to Overland across west africa

Thanks Brendan - yeah I have also been watching their posts on facebook and it's a long time that is almost time for the EMS3 to be out - honestly i'd just get the EMS2 with all the sensors but the EGT one since my Landy is standard (nothing upgraded) I wouldn't expect the EGT to go crazy high -...

Clutch master and slave cylinder overhaul

Thanks @AI2O3 for the reply - i have the Discovery gearbox (gear stick behind the diff lock) and the reverse is next to the first gear? so It's a Lt77? That'd be handy to understand as I couldn't find any serial number on the gearbox - I found the trasmission one (28D2 89013E) and it's a model...

Clutch master and slave cylinder overhaul

Heya, My mechanic in Ghana as part of a few checks he has been doing made me notice that the clutch reservoir liquid is excessively dirty (similar to the one in the pic attached which is not mine). It all works well (no pedal issue, no leaking, etc..) He advised me to get 'clutch master...

Prep to Overland across west africa

Thanks @Brendan for the tip- very interesting idea for measuring the EGT temperature without needing to drill the manifold - So i'd then connect the K type thermocouple wire ( like this one -->link) to the MadMan EMS? I am in touch with Brian at madman - he can't really comment on Ghana, where...

    New cabling for side-lights

Hi guys, Looking to replace the side-lights with the LED type. Since we found that the cabling for the license plate, the one for the fog light and for the rear light, are missing I was thinking to then replace the cabling for all of the side-lights whilst placing them with LEDs. My...

Alternative seals for roof to windscreen and windscreen to bulkhead

cool - can you help me understand why you still want to use the original foam rather than sticking to the neoprene closed cell rubber ?
  15. vasimone

Alternative seals for roof to windscreen and windscreen to bulkhead

gotcha! so as long as I find a neoprene seal thicker than 3mm like this one (here) it will be fine to just use that rather than the original foam seals right? would neoprene be sufficient or need so apply something else to seal/attach properly (e.g. PU seal, ...)
  16. vasimone

Alternative seals for roof to windscreen and windscreen to bulkhead

so you would use the neoprene 3mm and also the original foam seals? why not just the neoprene seal of an adequate thickness? Yes it's painted in Raptor - was concerned of putting PU sealant around the windscreen rubber as it would make it very hard to remove anytime in the future is the glass...

Alternative seals for roof to windscreen and windscreen to bulkhead

Hey guys! As I am almost done rebuilding Wheely following a complete respray I put the seals between roof and bulk head/windscreen frame (as per pic) BUT: when I tight the roof completely with the nuts and bolts there is still a big gap between windscreen frame and roof (see pic) the seal...

    Gravitex paint on rims

ok given the absence of replies I think it was a dumb idea - fair enough - i wanted something to protect it from stones and gravel that I'd find as I overland.... So if I go with the standard approach am I correct in assuming the following to paint them: 1- epoxy primer 2- base coat 3-...

    110 Roof Removal and Refitting

Guys - this morning I took off the bolts and nuts from roof and hinges and tried again fitting it - but this time i fitted first the roof and later the hinge - so now the roof is way closer but the space between the bulkhead and windscreen frame is even greater :( Do you guys normally fit...

    110 Roof Removal and Refitting

wow but it's massive - do you also have the same gap in the windscreen to bulkhead seal? i can easily move it up/down... before taking it off for the paint-job the seal was all nice and tight and the roof was way closer - see pic attached
