    Steering boxes?

Thanks retro, think my six bolt is goosed ! Column uj's are good and new steering pump hasn't cured my lack of power steering. No fluid leaks but the only old part in the system is the box. It just stopped working? Drove fine and next turn of the key nothing. :( Are the four bolt boxes better ??

    So who's going LRO show?

Hahaaaa, just like me Grem. I'll be there, looking for storage boxes, diff guards, tat and generally stuff I don't need :). Hope to be camping from the Wednesday night onwards as helping a mate with stand setup.

    Defender 110 CSW full restoration

Know whereabouts you mean, I had quite a job finding anyone that would take on a whole Land Rover 110 in bits ! Most folk only do smart repairs nowadays or flashovers, I needed a complete colour change. Went with a chap in Dilhorne in the end, glad I did

    Defender 110 CSW full restoration

Eyup greyhair at owrayt ! I got a good local chap to paint it for me. Crackin deal too as I wasn't fussed about how long he took. I knew I'd be a while on this build so as long as he did the parts I needed next I could keep working. I did spray almost everything else though, axles, brackets...

    Defender 110 CSW full restoration

That's pretty much the same as I did Flossie, poked a long piece of wire in exactly the same sawing fashion until I had success, then taped the loom to it I'd bought complete new wiring from Autosparks which was different to my old main loom and caused a lot of headaches to be honest. The new...

    Defender 110 CSW full restoration

After the bulkhead returned the more rewarding part began, I tried to refurbish as much as possible but if any parts were beyond their best I had to replace. The original side frames were in a terrible state so I had managed to source some from a later Td5 vehicle, stored them away until this...

    Defender 110 CSW full restoration

Mine was same Flossie, also the panhard rod bracket has two long bolts through chassis, these were different to my original ones, shorter, I think. Hard to come by so I sent a die down them then trimmed length, also, the holes in chassis for every plastic pipe clip were larger. And needed later...

    Defender 110 CSW full restoration

Hi Retro' I didn't pack my hinge holes and they filled with galv, which is why they were a pain. Don't know what would work to be honest but after the fact I thought it would have to be something that could withstand the acid dip and then heat of the galving tank. Thoughts anyone? The rivnuts...

    Defender 110 CSW full restoration

While I tried my best not to touch any bits after galving unfortunately it's not practical, the outrigger tubes will need filing as they will have excess zinc in them and the bolts simply will not go through, same with the bonnet hinge scrolls. On those I did a bit of filing and then turned down...

That's a fine bulkhead julianf, did it have work done beforehand ? It's a great job if so. Cheers Chris

    Defender 110 CSW full restoration

Those tubes were a real pain for me Flossie ! They were filled solid with zinc ! My 18v hand drill couldn't get close enough so I made do with a hand brace and very long rod and bit. As mine was a very rare new bulkhead it had no rivnuts fitted, which was easier to do afterwards. Any other...

    Defender 110 CSW full restoration

A few more photos along the way, After everything was removed, all that was left was a rolling chassis to push outside and remove the axles for refurb. Old shocks and turrets fitted to aid centralising the front axle. TerraFirma set up going on soon I had problems at this stage as the...
