Was the battery fully charged when you put it on? I don't mean by the alternator because I was told by a sparky that the alternator will only charge the battery back up to the level that it started at - not to a full charge - you need a trickle charger for this.

When i drive through water (even a good puddle) the power steering imediately fails. It comes back just as quick when i'm out of the water. The belt seems tight enough and it's a recent (6 months) PS pump. Any ideas?

Evening all. I have read the threads about diff locks being siezed up but my problem is with just the High/Low ratio - I can't engage LOW at all. My diff lock works. The Disco is a '96 300tdi auto (Jap import so I doubt Low has ever been selected) and I have tried in Park and Neutral, stationary...
