The investigation continues, dropped the oil this morning, no chunks, nothing of interest. The drain plug was minging but they all seem to be. There's a lot of oil underneath, more than normal. When I put the transfer box into neutral, there's no noise, only when I put it back into high...

so, my defender packed in, on the motorway! Driving at 55, seemed to notice a clunk so let off an accelerated again... nothing. Pulled intolerant the hard shoulder. Tried diff lock etc no movement. Clutch pedal seems fine, and gear stick seems to select a gear but as I release the clutch there...

The defender is 21, she's a 1995 model. I'll get in the engine bay tomorrow and have a mooch around.

The condensation hasn't been too bad - had one morning when I needed to give it a wipe but the weather was all over the place then. Should I be able to hear the motor when I turn the key but before I turn the engine over?

I am not going to ask for advice regarding locating the alarm, but... I bought one off eBay with central locking, looked on here and elsewhere and a few people recommended it - a kit by Hawk. Thing is, I am struggling to locate the alarm almost anywhere, the instructions say some of the wires...

Feeling pretty proud of myself, even though it's such a tiny easy job. Rocker cover has dried up that leak entirely, done the manifold aswell for belt and braces. I'll have to waxy the chassis now, no self preservation from the 90. Onto the next job.

perfect, I'll get it done tomorrow. Got plenty to do this weekend, the rear is full of bits i've had delivered over the last 2 days haha.

Thank you! Rocker cover done, cleaned up all the oil I could see and will keep an eye on it until the weekend, wasn't brave enough to do the manifold tonight, will do that on the weekend when I do all the filters.

Haha no problems, quick help... Rocker cover is off, it appears these things, c shaped pieces of metal, where stopping the cover getting flush... Should they be in a certain position?
