Advice on either a Tdi or Td5

Find a TD5 and go for the ES model. it will be the best thing you will buy. Having had just about every landy going, my ES is mustard. Ride is way better, off road is just what I need, bearing in mind I live on a farm , but not into heavy off roading any more. Performance is great. Down...

    Whining Noise

I have noticed this on my TD5 ES lately. It started about 4 weeks ago, and does not do it all the time. Having checked out the belt, pump and fluid level I have put it down to damp weather. I had a similar problem on thedrive belt on my old 300. I reckon I am right as it does not do it if...

    Juddering under breaking foot

Are you describing juddering, ie lateral movement shaking the steering wheel, or are you describing movement on the pedal, ie, the pedal moving up and down under your foot slightly. The two symptoms are very different and not to be confused. If you are describing the latter, it is not un common...

Alternator - I have searched previous threads

Check the voltage acros the terminals at night last thing, then again before you atempt a start in the morning. If the voltage has dropped, there is your answer. If the voltage is marginal but it still wont start, then you have lost the cranking capacity in the battery, especially affected by...

    Help!TD5 Handbook urgently needed!

You dont need to buy them, Mine had none of the hand books with it so took my self off to a Landrover dealer locally to purchase them. I was over the moon when he produced the complete set for my ES including all the ICE books all bound up and in a genuine leather case. The best bit was they...

    Does any one know?

Well its a bit of a long story really, as posted in a thread a few weeks back, but basically I bought a 2000 model TD5 ES manual locally for less than half its value as the owner was fed up with spending money on it and ordered himself another new one. Basically the history is, it seems to...

    300TDi overheated

My 300 blew the head gasket a few years back on the M23 at 80mph! She boiled to with in an inch of its life! Found that the expansion tank had split round the seam, apparently common problem, dumping the water and boiling up. I nursed it onward and then home, using and loosing some 40...

Wether the 2000 model TD5 ES manual, has a clutch damper? Have still got slack clutch pedal, which is going into a dealer to be looked at in the New Year, but wondered what the part on the inner wing is. Pipe comes out of master cylinder, through what ever this little valve is and then down...

    TD5 slack clutch pedal

the thing is, it had the cylinders changed to tery and solve the slack pedal syndrome. It was done at a garage I have used for years, and the mech their is 100% on Landy`s. I am pretty sure its not Hydraulic, so box off time next week I reckon. martin

    TD5 slack clutch pedal

To be honest, Trying to extract info out of the previous owner is like trying to get blood out of a stone. I believe it originally went in for a noise or vibration, which was diagnosed on the receipt as an excessively worn flywheel. Whilst the box was off they changed the clutch. He reckons...
