2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 - Oil / Diesel Leak Around Injector?

Mark, Unfortunately that may well be the case as the leak appears to be coming from the bell housing where the engine-gearbox connect together! Better stop this Boxster thread in its tracks! Take care.

2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 - Oil / Diesel Leak Around Injector?

Wlowde, Glad that yours was an easy fix. I walked away from this particular RRS - not because of the minor oil leak but because the owners appeared to destroy the left hand turbo whilst driving it to demonstrate a bit of judder!!!!! I have since acquired a similar RRS which has now covered in...

    Another Impetuous Fool!

That would be the absolute pinnacle of vehicle stability control and comfort - actively damping out the vibration and torque reaction created by the TDV8 engine!

    Another Impetuous Fool!

Brian, Many thanks for the warm welcome. I am now on day 8 of RRS ownership and so far so good - famous last words! I have driven about 500 miles without issue during the past week. I have read a number of errors with my iCarsoft v2.0 Multi Vehicle Scanner all of which, (bar one), causes me...

    Tow Bar Blues

Gstuart, Many thanks, once again, for your assistance and I am very impressed with the underside of your vehicle! Just a quick update . . . I managed to order a towbar wiring kit from PF Jones, (I spoke to a very helpful assistant before placing my order), and it arrived yesterday. I had a...

    Tow Bar Blues

Gstuart, Many thanks, once again, for your prompt response and for the wealth of additional information provided, (I was just downloading the fitting instructions when you posted the final link)! The fitting instructions show the locations of the cables at either side of the rear of the...

    Tow Bar Blues

Marjon, Many thanks for the link - that explains matters fully. I do recall reading some reports about 'quick release' towbars dropping out and the video shows a possible reason why - if the towbar has not been inserted fully and the locking pin fully engaged. My last RR had the quick release...

    Tow Bar Blues

Hi Everybody, I have searched the forum for an answer to my particular question but wasn't able to find any articles that were appropriate - please accept my apologies if I have missed something. I am now into day 3 of my RRS ownership and so far so good - I think! I have about 5 errors which...

    Another Impetuous Fool!

Gstuart, Many thanks for the comprehensive welcome ! I checked all fluids, (and I checked the owners driveway), prior to purchase - all fluid reservoirs topped up nicely and absolutely no oil stains on the drive, (but it could have been kept in a garage of course)! The vehicle has now...

    Another Impetuous Fool!

After walking away from the last RRS I viewed, (the one with the oil leak from the injector and the owner who seemed intent on destroying his engine), I stumbled across another which was in similar condition but was definitely far better mechanically! The vehicle drove fine but with just a hint...

2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 - Oil / Diesel Leak Around Injector?

If I had a trailer and the vehicle had not been far from my home address I would have made a very low ball offer and taken it for a winter project! I need to keep up my reputation of being a 'glutton for punishment'! I have never been 'stung' with a vehicle purchase, (but there's still time of...

2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 - Oil / Diesel Leak Around Injector?

In true 'Streets of San Fransisco' fashion - The Epilogue! Popped over this afternoon and cast an eye over the vehicle and, (at first glance), it appeared to be an absolute steal at the extremely low price. Exterior bodywork good with no dings and just a couple of light scratches. Interior...

2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 - Oil / Diesel Leak Around Injector?

Really appreciate your comments thank you all. I am going to take a closer look and try and form a rational opinion from what I see and how it drives. If the condition is as good as the pictures then it may be worth a gamble as the price is peanuts and I always have this desire to use my tools...

2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 - Oil / Diesel Leak Around Injector?

Kermit, Apologies for any confusion it is the Range Rover Sport model and not the original Range Rover model. As previously stated it is located a fair distance away so it could be a bit ofva drive for nothing - but then again . . . ! Regards, Martin. Jaguar XF 3.0S, Porsche Boxster S, BMW...

2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 - Oil / Diesel Leak Around Injector?

Hi everybody - it has been a little while since I was last on the site! A lot of water, (and a fair number of vehicles), have passed under the bridge since then. I acquired a very nice 2007 Range Rover TDV8 a couple of years ago and was very impressed with the vehicle - despite a number of...

Steering Angle Data Missing - Possible Module Fault?

Tomcat59Alan, Many thanks for the additional info - I will check the readings as per your instructions as I know that the RR family are very sensitive to low voltages, earthing and connector issues.

Steering Angle Data Missing - Possible Module Fault?

Some excellent news - the beast is alive!!!!! Yesterday evening, (whilst the storm raged all around us), I decided to review all of the error messages that I read from my scanner, (assisted earlier in this post), and decided to start with the 'Engine' errors as these 'real' codes continue to...

Steering Angle Data Missing - Possible Module Fault?

Datatek, yes I agree as there should be a significant increase in voltage, (as compared to the 'standard' 12v), when the alternator is charging but that was the voltage reading I took yesterday evening.
