Well some one has to start the ball rolling ! I have heard, that there is a stop on the reverse gear selector, that can get dislodged, this can then drop between 1st and 3rd, and effectively lock up the selector, hence the rigidity of the gear stick. The weather hasn't given me any encouragement...

'89 110 V8 was running perfectly, reversed it into the yard to do some electrical mods. Went to start it a couple of days later, on checking the gear stick, found it was locked up [in neutral], consequently starts OK, but can't select a gear! Minimal movement in the stick, backwards, forwards...
