    Freelander Tick-over Speed

I run a gliding club and we have been given a 2002 Freelander Diesel manual for airfield use. However, even in first gear, it will not run slow enough to tow a glider at walking speed. We have two Discoveries and they are fine in 1st gear at tick-over speed, but the Freelander is simply not...

    Toyo open country all terrain

i have a full set of Event ML698 All-Terrain 235/70 x 16 tyres on my 300 TDi and they are really great. I use the Disco on and off road, including marshalling on gravel rallies in forests and for pulling glider trailers into and out of fields. They have done over 12,000 miles and are still in...

Disco 1 Any Electrical Experts on Here?

Yes, I guess that is the case.

Disco 1 Any Electrical Experts on Here?

I finally got round to looking at the problem today. I've been busy doing my Mk.1 Mini Cooper 'S' of late so the Disco took a back seat, but was driveable so it was not a problem. I stripped the switch out, but could see no issues. I got circuit integrity across the switch with 12 volt power to...

Disco 1 Any Electrical Experts on Here?

When it cools down a bit I shall borrow a switch from a friend and try replacing it first, after testing the connectivity. My first thought was the switch, but I thought I would ask you 'Disco Gurus' first. Thanks for your adice and I'll let you know the result.

Disco 1 Any Electrical Experts on Here?

Thanks for this. The thing that seems most confusing is the fact that the main-beam warning is on all the time, not just on main-beam. I guess I'll strip the switch out and check it all with my multi-meter.

Disco 1 Any Electrical Experts on Here?

My 1997 300tdi has a strange headlight issue. The headlights do not work, neither on main beam or dip. Dim dip doesn't work either, but both sidelights are OK. As soon as I turn the sidelights on the main-beam warning light comes on and stays on when I select main or dip beams.. Looking in the...

    Glow Plug Problem

I had a starting problem with my 300 TDi during the recent really cold weather. I fitted new glow plugs and it made no difference, so I took a multi-meter to the timer relay. There is 12 v input from the big brown cab,e, but no output. Fitting a new relay has made no difference. Now being fed up...

    Anyone use Event ML698 Tyres?

An update if I may. I have now done over 12,000 miles on my 235/70 x 16 Event ML698 and I continue to be very pleased with them. The wear rate is excellent and I recently had to pull a large glider out of a very wet field of Winter wheat. I was a bit concerned at first, but there was no need to...

    Tyres

I thought I would post my experience with the set of 'Event ML698' A/T tyres which I fitted last November. The size is 235/70 x 16 and I was recommended these by a good friend who runs a big tyre business. I had intended to buy a better-known brand, but the recommendation was right and the price...

    Disco 1 Paint Colour/Code

Can someone tell me what the colour and code are for a 1997 Dark Red Metallic Disco 1. I need to buy a rattle can to do a very small area.

Disco 1 Insurance for 3rd Party sat in a field!

Last year my 3rd party cover on my 300TDi with Flux was £221. This year they wanted £520 for the same cover, same risks, no claims or accidents, no convictions, no losses. I went elsewhere via the 'Meerkats' and paid just under £300 for 3rd party. Because it is a second car I only have 1 year's...

    Tyres

You might consider a set of Event ML698 A/T (same pattern as the BFG A/T) in the 235/70 x 16 size. Excellent value and good to drive with. A full set should cost around £250.

    Disco 1 Under-door Trim

I have been doing this for very many years on a variety of classic cars and find it works well. Before I spray it into enclosed sections I get it quite warm and it really does flow well. One place where I have found this to work well is inside the sills of my classic Minis.

    Disco 1 Under-door Trim

The plastic under-door trim strips sure do create a rust trap. I had a small hole in the horizontal part of the outer sill on the LH side, so I took off the trim to weld in a patch. The condition of the vertical web of the outer sill was badly corroded where the trim strip is fitted. I replaced...

    Anyone use Event ML698 Tyres?

I have to admit that I was a bit concerned as I knew nothing about 'Event Tyres', and I was intending going for BF Goodrich AT's. I use the Disco for marshalling on rallies, often in forests, and for towing glider trailers which can include retrievals from farms and fields. A friend who runs a...

    Anyone use Event ML698 Tyres?

Fitted a set of 235/70 x 16 to my Disco 300Tdi about 3000 miles ago and they are truly excellent, especially when they only cost me £225 fitted and balanced. Very good on gravel and mud and not too noisy on smooth roads. Highly recommended.

    Wheels and tyres

I just fitted a set of Event AT 235/70 x 16 on my 300TDi and they are really excellent for the price. On the road they are not excessively noisy and when marshalling in the Thetford Forest area recently they went through a lot of deep mud with no issues at all. They have al balanced up with no...

    Starting Issue

Thanks for this help Guys, I'll check each of those in turn. I don't think it will be water in the fuel.
