Kwik Fit say no-no to MoTs on classic?

indeed. It's booked in with my man round the corner this Friday. He's never had this problem...he's just hard to get an appointment with! I should have told them the suspension is fine - i've just been in and done all the bushes!

Kwik Fit say no-no to MoTs on classic?

Ok, just to close off this discussion and hopefully help everyone from wasting their time... i took the RR along for the MoT last week. I went off to wander round Wickes. 10 mins later i get a call....never a good sign. Seemingly they can't lift the vehicle on their new ramp. There's a...

Kwik Fit say no-no to MoTs on classic?

It's managed to transport my plutocratic backside across fields, into the Queen's representative car park at Ascot and into London so it must be a RR. It also has a special cloaking device which means it doesn't offend people as much as modern ones...

Kwik Fit say no-no to MoTs on classic?

Not a thread about Kwik Fit and their service (my local is quite good!), but their ability to MoT a classic ('88 3.5 efi). I did the landcruiser MoT last week and no problems. This week i tried to book the classic in for the MoT and the website said they weren't equipped to handle it! I asked...

I did the blue polybush...and lived

i was so overcome with joy at having smooth and comfortable steering that i've cleaned all the carpets with the Big green machine. of course the coolant sensor has decided to **** itself and say i'm low on coolant all the time when i'm not. Must have been next on the list of LR faults...wonder...

I did the blue polybush...and lived

Many would have you believe that polybushing a classic ('88 efi, no rollbars, but a fully working Boge strut) is like painting over the Mona Lisa with a yard brush. I went with it and did the bushings with originals about 6 years ago. Recently the death wobble came back and everything has been...

    which 20w50 is the one...?

Ha yes...88 It needs a lot more oil when you smack the oil pressure switch while removing ste steering box and it leaks afterwards while you let it run!
  15. R

    which 20w50 is the one...?

Without going for a "what oil" thread award... I'm a firm fan of the Morris products even though they recommend 10w40 for the 1998 3.5 efi...i'm a user of Golden film 20w50 (https://www.morrislubricantsonline.co.uk/golden-film-sae-20w-50-classic-motor-oil.html?variation_id=1293 ), which from...

    Classic Pump replacement

Not the best picture, but i've got two bars (one each side) running to the chassis rail to brace the tow plate. Maybe an aftermarket one before i got it?

    Classic Pump replacement

Don't the two 45 degree stabilisers ned to be unbolted at one end? I remember something of that ilk. Towbar itself didn't need to be touched.

    Classic Pump replacement

i'd think a proper garage with a trained spanner wrangler should be done in two hours?

    Classic Pump replacement

The dropping etc isn't that bad. Worse case you cut bolts and put nice new SS ones in with some copaslip. Then the next time you do it (and there will be a next time...) it's fairly painless. When i did mine i had to drain and drop the tank twice as the new pump was wired backwards to the...

    Surely not...52.33mm really?

well hub and everything back on with apparently the correct end float. Now i just need the steering box back from Kiley Clinton and she should be good to go (and get an MoT...)
