    Spare Wheel Cover Stickers

I think it might well have been them that I got my wife's cover from. I just sent them a picture that I had and I used a colour chart to roughly match the paint colour.

    Spare Wheel Cover Stickers

I bought my wife a wheel cover with a picture of her horse on it many years ago. The car has gone but she has now used the cover as garden art. You send the firm a picture and they manufacture a long lasting wheel cover.

    JLR Telematics and murder conviction

I suppose they adhere to the data protection act legislation. They would probably claim that they are monitoring the car for safety reasons rather than the driver. Spooky though.

Removing starter motor on TD5 auto, replacing contacts, etc

I had the cylinder head off at the time so I thought it would be a good time to take the photo.

Removing starter motor on TD5 auto, replacing contacts, etc

When the nut first slackens and when replacing nut, I find it easier to reach by lying with my head to the front of the car and turning away from the starter so that I can reach behind with my right hand. Probably because I don't have long arms.

Removing starter motor on TD5 auto, replacing contacts, etc

On a manual the top nut is easy enough from the bottom. You just need the right length extension. The distance between the tip of the socket and the back of the extension driver needs to be between 19 and 20 cm.

    JLR Telematics and murder conviction

I am all for using this data to stop insurance scams. Trouble is that insurance companies just seem to pay out anyway. Shortly aftermy daughter first passed her driving test she went into the car in front at walking pace. Not even the slightest mark on her car. The other lady got paid out nearly...

People like that deserve hanging. Its weird though - car firms having access to all your whereabouts etc.

    JLR Telematics and murder conviction

The murderer had thought that he had covered his tracks by having two accomplices take his wife's Disco that he used at the time and burning it. JLR still had the data that had been transmitted by sim card saved and this told the police where the car had been at the time of the murder and even...

    Groaning noise on clutch

You could possibly save by not renewing the DMF if it isn't giving any trouble. Did ours on the drive. Engine hoist bought used from ebay and sold for what we paid for it. They sell quick. If you like tackling challenges and have the time to have the car off road then it can be done. We...

    TD5 non starter

If there was no signal from the crank position sensor then it wouldn't run but I am not sure of the effect of a corrupted signal. Perhaps a diagnostic unit might shed some light on other possible faults.

    TD5 non starter

Even if you don't get a good connection off jump leads it might show if the car is willing to try and turn the starter. If not then it is more likely to be something like starter trigger lead or crank sensor rather than charging system or battery.

    TD5 non starter

When you say jump leads do you mean connected to another car with its engine running? Might be worth checking crank position sensor if the starter leads are ok.

    Clutch

Its just a bleed nipple like the brakes. i didn't get a good result from just bleeding ours from below. Used an oil can with brake fluid in it and pressured the system from above the master cylinder.

Removing the starter on a TD5

Once you have done it a couple of times it isn't bad from below. If you lie with your feet to the rear and head to the front. The length needed is between 19cm and 20cm from the tip of the socket to the back of the socket driver. When putting the nut back on I found I could reach it easier...
