    OSF Clunk!

Hi All, Hoping that you guys may know the cause of my clunk, on my 2004 Freelander V6. The noise is a real loud single 'clunk', it is most definitely coming from the drivers side front. The noise happens when you have turned right and back left again mostly. It doesnt make the noise if you...

    Freelander 1 IRD Whine

Im having a similar problem with mine, there is a whine coming from the IRD area of the car. I have removed the propshaft and the propshaft bearings and the whine still persists. It gets worse as the car gets hotter. I have also replaced the oil in the IRD and it came out looking fine. Any...

    Freelander V6 Overheating

New bottle and cap are now fitted, done over 100 miles in it since and have had no issues! I dont think the old bottle was a genuine part, the cap didnt tighten down anywhere near as tight as it does with this one. The threads on the old bottle also allow you to screw the cap down so it doesnt...

    Freelander V6 Overheating

I have run a chemical test to look for exhaust gasses in the coolant and none are present. Looks like the head gasket is not the culprit! Going to fit a brand new genuine expansion tank and cap today.

    Freelander V6 Overheating

I hope that fixes your problem. I feel like giving up on mine, and just sell it as spares or repair.

    Freelander V6 Overheating

I have spoken to an MG Rover specialist who works with these engines on a daily basis. He thinks it is either one of two things. The head gasket or the water pump. Im going to get a chemical sniff test done to confirm if exhaust gases are mixing or not. At least I can rule the head gasket out...

    Freelander V6 Overheating

The car has been working ok for the past two weeks without overheating. I changed the thermostat and bled the system thoroughly. Took the car to work this morning and out comes the steam from the expansion tank again. Exactly the same symptoms as before, expansion tank full of coolant, and now...

    Freelander V6 Overheating

https://www.lrdirect.com/Parts-by-Model/Freelander-1-Parts/Cooling/Expansion-Tank/ There are two part numbers listed PCD000090 and PCD500030. I have PCD500030 now and it doesnt appear to hold any pressure on the expansion tank.

    Freelander V6 Overheating

I have replaced the thermostat and link pipe. I have spent most of the day making sure the system has been bled getting all air out, using both the bulkhead bleed screw and the one on the bottom of the engine. I do have the 'clicky' cap as you mentioned above. The coolant was still rising and...

    Freelander V6 Overheating

I have received the new thermostat today but there is a slight rattle from it... sounds like a ball bearing moving about. Is it normal for a new stat to rattle slightly?

    Freelander V6 Overheating

Thank you to everyone for your help so far, much appreciated! I have checked in the V of the engine tonight and it appears the thermostat is leaking. I have ordered a new thermostat and will get it fitted this weekend. The coolant expansion tank looks ok to me. Fingers crossed now that this...

    Freelander V6 Overheating

Where abouts are they prone to cracking? Will is be an obvious crack? I did have a look but to be honest couldnt see anything leaking from it. There is no white smoke or steam from the exhaust. The fan used to come on when i first started the car but it doesn't seem to now. It definitely wasnt...

    Freelander V6 Overheating

Hi All Im back with yet another problem with my freelander v6. I was driving it in to work the other day and I started to notice steam coming out of the expansion tank area. On getting back to the car later that day, before starting it up I checked the expansion tank and it was empty. I didnt...

    Freelander V6 Vibration

No I dont, there is more movement in the front bearing rubber than the rear one. It sounds like Bearmach VCU Bearings may just be a cheap part. It definitely feels like its vibrating from the vcu area, you can feel it if you place your hand on the transmission tunnel. What make of VCU bearings...

    Freelander V6 Vibration

Hi All, I have recently purchased a facelift Freelander 2.5 V6 with 50k miles. I'm having a problem with the car where on tight corners there is a vibration coming from the center of the car underneath. The following work has been done so far to try to remedy it: The VCU has not long been...
