Dumb question alert! With a P38 what exactly is the difference between an HSE and a vogue. I cant See anything. I get the autobiography has the headrest tv screens and the upgraded leather, tray tables and wood etc but i cant see any disernable difference otherwise lol

A side by side test drive of the 3.5 and the 4.6 since posting has unfortunatey made me realise that the 4.6 is worth the issues... It's that good! I'll buy a dead one and just rebuild it from the get go if I have to. Either that or look at the early l322 with the BMW lump. But the P38 is prettier

get an adaptor milled to mate the boxes Id imagine. We put a suzuki engine in a mini once and had a flywheel made to mate them up

The 4.0 jag lump would be perfect. the rover 4.6 litre v8 only makes 220bhp and 280 lb ft of torque! The 4.0 jag lump turns out 290bhp at 320lb ft of torque and at a lower rpm!! The jag unit uses less fuel under a similarload, is considerably smoother and infinitely more reliable.

Has anyone done a guide to rebuilding the v8 engines to totally sort all the pattern failures? I'm buying a P38 and considered buying a second engine and rebuilding it from scratch to replace the one in the truck when the liners slip or the lump goes pours etc etc. And let's face it it's going...

Side note I just measured up and Id like to bet the 2.7 twin Turbo Lion engine from the s-Type and xj would drop in nicely. Safe bet that the newer 3.0l from the XJ and XF would also. Just a thought lol

The 4.0 ajv8 is a glorious engine! And it's fine on lpg. Better off it but aren't they all lol if one would fit Id do it without a moments hesitation.

I figured it out lol have 96amp max output from the alternator (measured) so I'm guessing it's the 100amp one and each lamp pulls 55w at 12v so easy to figure out from there :-)
