Well after phoning round a few places this morning it's being recovered on Wednesday and a locksmith is booked to drill out the old barrel once I've got it home. Then I'll be fitting a new barrel. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

That's what I was thinking of doing, just wondering if there was another way of getting access or ideas on removing the key. The fobs weren't the issue, something in the Disco itself was but hardly had the money to put fuel in it let alone sort that issue out.

I have another key, and the ignition uses a different key so that isn't a problem there. No other locks unfortunately, the joys of budget models if Land Rover does such a thing.

He was under the impression that the internal locks would be deadlocked unless unlocked properly. Even if we'd got entry the Disco would have had to be left unlocked where it currently is in a street away from here as I wouldn't have been able to drive it away without disarming the immobiliser.

Well firstly thanks for all your help, it has been appreciated. Secondly I found the problem and the culprit was some fairly poor soldering on the key activated switch (NOT the ignition switch) on the new ignition barrel. Where as the joints on the original switch are all hidden behind plastic...

After having to change the ignition barrel on my Disco 2 this morning I can now start the thing without spending 5 minutes messing around with the key which is great. What is not so great is that fuse 20 keeps blowing every time I try and start the thing now. Anyone have any ideas? Everything...

That's the one. I spoke to the guy doing the test this morning so I know I don't need to worry about the wiper or spare tyre. I do have another spare, two in fact but I have some doubts about the front tyres so I'm saving those for the test as well.

The door card is off and the motor in pieces. Unfortunately the main plastic gear has had it along with some of the other internals so a replacement is needed. Mot Friday so I'm just waiting to see what else is wrong with it.
