just upgraded ( I think? ) from 97 disco 1 300tdi ES to a 99 disco 2 td5 ES. It is currently sat on 255/65/r16's on steel rims with a slightly deeper offset ( than normal ). Now although I like the look of the stance I don't like the look of the centres, as in able to see hubs & standing proud...

But when you unplugged it your engine management would of altered other settings to compensate ( like fuel delivery etc ). Also emissions were probably through the roof at the same time, so when you clean it or replace it, it might not run the same as it did without it.

That's how it's supposed to work, locking with key still sets alarm & immobiliser just minus internal sensors, ie when leaving dogs etc in car. Still use fob to unlock / disarm.

Makes no matter how much water was still in engine it all depends on how hot it got as pump kicking it means the water that's left is not circulating through radiator to be cooled.

Don't know exact location on yours, but follow hoses from radiator to engine and you are sure to find it. If it's same as 300tdi it will be at the front and have 1 or 2 senders on it. These have electrical connectors on them, short them out to test

On my disco 1 there are 2 senders on thermostat housing, the green one on mine was faulty. To test it put a small screwdriver between contacts whilst engine running and air on on. If fans come on then this is the culprit

Fitted new ball joint when I did all the bushes, once off took at least 20 mins start to finish. No press just some old sockets a vice and a hammer.
