Stick with the White tune resistor for sure as if you change to the green one itwill stop your ECU looking at the Lambdas so you remove the ECU's ability to adjust its fuelling parameters.

The pin closest to your radiator in this picture goes to the negative side of the coil (its the trigger from the amp to the coil) The other pin (the one in the side direction as the amplifier itself) goes to the positive side of the coil. Make sure this is a 12 volt feed to your coil though...

The coils should not be any different from the 3.5 and 3.9 models as both use an electronic distributor with an amplifier either bolted on the side of the distributor (200 shape discos and range rover classics) or mounted on a plate near the coil on 300 shape discos and I think soft dash range...

I think even using a pressure washer would not completely unblock the inside of the rad as the water will still flow through the easiest part. Could be worth a try though as its not going to cost anything but time. Unless you don't own a pressure washer and need to buy one, then it will cost :-)

Stupid things is when the previous owner removed the cats he should have left the lambdas in and the white tune resistor lol Main things though is that you have got it sorted and now have the correct tune resistor for your setup. I presume you are not running on LPG?

Do you know or can you find out what colour the cables are of the tune resistor they fitted? I'm going to guess white :-) but please confirm.

Start the engine from cold, start a timer at the same time. When the ticking comes in stop the timer. 99% certain that if you do the same the next day the tick will start at the same time which mean loose liner / cracked block. Sorry for the bad news but better know straight away rather...

My thoughts exactly texpis. Spot on with the tune resistors but cant see it changing things to the extents that you detailed in your earlier posts. Would definitely be worth while finding out exactly what the garage did.

I would go with blocked rad as well. When you flush it out with a hose all you really do is open up enough channels in the rad for your garden hose flow and pressure to get through. You cant unblock all passages in the rad this way. You can check the rad another way by running the engine...

Well, thought I would share a few pictures of my current (when I get a few minutes) project. I bought a second hand pair of axles to rebuild as and when and the other day started work on the front axle. The diff on the front of my 300tdi is the worst one so thought I would start there...

LO. Yer tune resistor to select a different map in the ECU. however this should not be needed and really I would strongly recommend finding the real reason the % was high as you could e damaging your engine at the moment.

Sounds like a cheep resistor fix on an ecu input???

I hear what you are saying Datatek, however I have time and this is my little shed project at the moment :-) Yer, guess your right James. I'll strip the pistons and seals out and then give it a good soak then start proding and blowing. I'll post some pictures of them once they are done.
